Time-limited downshift
When the light is kept working on Turbo for over 15 minutes, the output will reduce to 900-550 lumens within 15 minutes.

Note: Tested according to laboratory cooling test conditions.

When High or Turbo is needed again, restart the light or directly cycle back if battery level allows.

Low-voltage Warning
When the voltage level drops below 3V, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery so as not to shorten the life or damage the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will work until the battery runs out or the protection circuit activates.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using a quality battery with proper built-in protections.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lithium battery needs to be charged when it is near depletion. Please immediately charge the battery when it is depleted. It has no memory effect.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare (included) when damaged.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Good flashlight. Unfortunately, I aimed to replace my TK35UE (2000 max lumen) and this one just doesn’t cut it. It’s nice and all, just not worth the money spent when I already had a nice light.

Just got my PD36R in the mail today! I’ve been using Fenix flashlights for over 10 years now and this flashlight moved right to to top of my favorites. I’m a plumber so every day I rely on my flashlight in crawl spaces, dark/dim lit basements and under sinks and vanities among many more scenarios. I tested the new light in my basement just to see how bright it is and wow, it’s bright. I haven’t tested it in the field yet but tomorrow will be the true test. Knowing Fenix, I won’t be disappointed!

Got my pd36r yesterday, I can’t put it down. It replaces my pd25 for a while. Great beam, quality piece. It just feels right in the hand. 1600lm out of this is way brighter than expected. Everthing is perfect, except maybe a moonlight mode, as always fenix makes the best lights, this is my 6th fenix and I’ve never had a problem with them in years and years. Shoutout to their customer service who always goes above and beyond.

I have been a big fan of the Fenix brand for a few years now. I bought the PD36R to replace an older different brand light. I got it yesterday opened the packaging and I knew I had made the right decision. Feels great in my hand. I ran through all the modes in the garage at 6pm the light was very bright and clear. I could not wait for it to get dark. About 9:30pm last night I went outside. I live in the middle of the wood far away from city lights. I pressed the light on and and the yard and woods lit up let it was day light. Very nice beam and good distance. Just what I needed for my outdoors lifestyle. Thank you Fenix for such a great light. Hard to beat this light for under $100 and a lifetime warranty. I recommend that you buy one today. I am thinking about buying other for my wife. It is hard to see the light very well in one image but I picked this one of it in my hand.

  6. Fenix Lighting U.S.

Message and review from Fenix Executive:
Simply put. This is a GAME CHANGER! Now in my 14th year of being heavily involved with flashlights, it’s difficult to impress me. The move from incandescents to LED’s definitely did that. The switch from the PD32UE to the PD35 checked the box. So did the move to the USB rechargeable series of lights. The PD36R is the next step in line with those.

I’ve had the privilege of being one of the people to carry this for a couple weeks while preparing and attending trade shows. The 21700 battery with the increased capacity really opens up flashlights to a much greater opportunity. The runtimes allow for redesigns in the output operations that many of the markets we support have requested. A perfect example is the 800 lumens for almost 6 hours. I can think of dozens of activities (work and play) that are going to be affected by this. This is a solid 800 lumens running for just short of 6 flipping hours. Don’t get me wrong, I like the ability to have the 1600 lumens. That amount of light can always find use. But don’t lose sight of the runtimes. Those beautiful runtimes.

Some other details on the light.
-Body is just slightly larger than the UC35. Don’t even realize a difference in my carry time with it. The larger body does help with dissipation of heat. The 1600 lumens still needs heat protection circuitry (testing sample ran avg of 5 min on turbo before kick-down to 800), but 800 lumen mode is absolutely fine.
-Type C USB charging port is nice. Allows the light to be in that 4 hr charging window versus 7 or 8 for a battery with this capacity with standard USB. Just for additional example; plug the PD36R up for a couple hours and you have more than what you would have had from a PD35 with 2xCR123A. So in a pinch for time this can be a real benefit.
-I like the dual clip. I don’t see many folks reverse clipping the light to the brim of a hat, but it’s good for holding on your backpack, putting on a car visor, or any light rigging needed for various jobs.
-New body style is sharp. Has a real modern look and feel. Everyone at the trade shows immediately asked about the PD36R even though it was just shown as another light in a grouping of black aluminum flashlights. They could tell it was different.
-Light is white. Don’t expect neutral, this is not neutral. Most people will prefer the white, but we have a small percentage of fans that will be disappointed it’s not in the neutral range.
-Much more of a spot light than the E30R. The light doesn’t have the same LEN’s system as the E30R. This is more of traditional optics system.
-Operation is just like PD35 and UC35. For those who are already Fenix owners of those models. Just simple on/off in the rear switch with momentary capability and switch modes from side switch. Very simple.

That’s about it from my evaluation. Again, I will say I love the innovation this light allows due to the 21700 battery and I think it makes it a game changer in the lighting world. I think many of you will fell the same way.
