Battery Replacement

  1. Pull battery cover latch with Fenix logo that is located between the switches to open the tail cap.
  2. Insert the battery/batteries in accordance with the polarity marks.
  3. Replace the tail cap.

Frequency Sensing

As the user’s step frequency increases or decreases, the brightness will gradually increase or decrease accordingly.

Charging

  1. Uncover the left anti-dust cap and plug the USB Type-C side of the charging cable into the charging port of the lamp; when charging is complete, replace the anti-dust cap to ensure waterproof and dustproof ability.
  2. In charging process, four indicators flash: below 20%, one constant-on and three flash: 20% - 50%, two constant-on and two flash: 50% - 80%, three constant-on and one flashes: 80% - 95%, four constant-on: charging complete.
  3. When charging, the Low of either of the modes can be used.
  4. The normal charging time is 3 hours from depletion to full charging.

Battery Level Indication

With the light switched off, single click either of the switches to check the battery level and indicator(s) will last for 3 s.

Four blue lights on: 100% - 80%

Three blue lights on: 80% - 60%

Two blue lights on: 60% - 40%

One blue light on: 40% - 20%

One blue light flashes: 20% - 1%

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-LP1900 battery.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the battery level indicator blinks to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-LP1900 battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at relatively high output levels for extended periods. When the lamp reaches a temperature of 65°C or above, the lamp will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 65°C, it will then allow the user to reselection the modes.

Headband Assembly

1. The headband is factory assembled by default.

2. Adjust the headband by sliding the buckle to the required length.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the lamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality Fenix battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage. Lock the lamp or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The contact point or contact of the battery or headlamp is dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

Warning

  • Do NOT place this headlamp in the reach of children!
  • Do NOT shine the headlamp directly into the eyes of anyone!
  • Do NOT shine flammable objects at close range, to avoid burning objects or causing danger due to high temperature!
  • Do NOT use the headlamp in inappropriate ways such as biting in the mouth, to avoid personal injury or life threats when the headlamp or internal battery fails!
  • This headlamp will accumulate a lot of heat while working, resulting in a high temperature of the headlamp shell. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding.
  • Turn off and lock the headlamp or remove the battery from the headlamp to prevent accidental activation when the headlamp is placed in a closed and flammable environment such as pockets and backpacks!
  • The LED of this headlamp is not replaceable; so the whole headlamp should be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its life.

A: Fenix HL32R-T is a high-performance lightweight trail running headlamp. Its key features include:

  1. Super lightweight design.
  2. Spotlight and floodlight.
  3. Multiple brightness options for trail running demands.
  4. Two power options.
  5. SPORT Headband Fit System.

Q2. What kind of LEDs are used in HL32R-T? Does Fenix offer to replace LED?

A: A Luminus SST20 cold white light LED and a neutral white LED; with a lifespan of 50000 hours.

Fenix does not provide LED replacement services for the time being, and users are not recommended to replace the LEDs independently, which may affect product performance and cause product damage.

Q3. What is the color temperature of HL32R-T?

A: The color temperature of spotlight is around 6500K, the color temperature of floodlight is around 4000K.

Q4. Is HL32R-T rechargeable? How long is the charging time?

A: HL32R-T is rechargeable. Uncover the left anti-dust cap and plug the USB Type-C side of the charging cable into the charging port of the lamp to charge the lamp. The charging time is about 3 hours from depleted to fully charged. When charging is complete, replace the anti-dust cap to ensure waterproof and dustproof ability.

Q5. How to prevent accidental activation of the HL32R-T?

A: Lock: when the lamp is switched off, press and hold either of the switches for 3 seconds or simultaneously press both of the switches for 3 seconds, the lamp will blink 4 times to indicate locked status.

Unlock: when the lamp is locked, press and hold both of the switches for 3 seconds, the lamp will blink 4 times to indicate unlocked status.

Q6. Why does the HL32R-T downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A: There are two reasons:

1. Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at relatively high output levels for extended periods. When the lamp reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the lamp will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature.

2. Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached.

Q7. Why does the HL32R-T happen to flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

A: Low battery.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).

B: The contact point or contact of the battery or headlamp is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

Q8. What kind of battery can be used in HL32R-T?

A: Fenix ARB-LP1900 rechargeable Li-polymer is recommended. Compatible with 3 x AAA batteries. Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended. As High output fail to light up due to current and voltage limitation, an unmatched battery may cause the light to fail to work normally.

Q9. Is the HL32R-T battery port waterproof?

A. The light is waterproof so long as the battery port cover is in place.

Q10. What should I do if the HL32R-T needs repair?

A:  15-day replacement: Fenix will replace identical or equal products with documented manufacturing defects within 15 days of purchase.

  1. 5-year free repair: Fenix will repair a light free of charge within 5 years (rechargeable battery and other accessories: 1 year) of purchase if problems develop with normal use.
  2. Lifetime maintenance: If repair is required after 5 years from the date of purchase, Fenix will charge for parts. The total repair fee is dictated by the cost of the replaced materials.

HL32R

I purchased the. HL32 RT as an upgrade.

Things I like about this light is it’s comfortable, has both a broad and spot light setting and does light up the trail very well.

What I don’t like is that I cannot purchase a separate, backup rechargeable battery from Fenix. The light does accept AAA’s but did not last as long as the pack. And the light gives no warning, it immediately shuts off without warning when power source is drained.

Great headlamp, comfortable and bright

I like running with a flood and this provides a nice bright beam that stays constant for about 6-7 hours on the high flood. I use the spot beam if I need to see a little farther down the trail, am checking my route, or if someone is oncoming and I don't want to blind them with the flood. The spot has memory and the flood always defaults to the low setting which is nice around camp so you don't blind yourself. It isn't super light, but the wide headstrap balances everything well. I have a size large head and was worried about the extended thin cables from the ratchet being untidy, but it works well (see picture). The headlamp also fits over my hat. Small things I would change: the plastic backpiece has a cutout (I'm guessing to save weight). Because of the cutout I can't stick my usual piece of foam on it for comfort. Next, it is pretty much impossible to source a spare 1900 fenix battery pack, but the nitecore HLB1300 fits perfectly and can be charged when inside the fenix headlamp. Keep in mind that AAA's work too. The nitecore battery pack has 33% less energy than the fenix one, but it is also 24% lighter (8 grams difference). Theoretically you would still be able to run about 4-5 hours on a constant high flood with the smaller battery at a total of 99 grams. Pretty good! I have a lot of headlamps, and this is my favorite combination of features. I was cross-shopping this with the Petzl Swift RL, but ultimately decided on the fenix because of it's robust build quality, battery options, independently operating spot/flood, and price.

The pictures show the flood beam and the spot beam against a wall. In actual use the spot beam is more even than the picture shows and does throw some good peripheral light. I really like the color of the flood. There is a form of subtle adaptive lighting that changes brightness if your cadence changes. My cadence when trail running is around 165-175, and the graph shows that it will change output between 150 to 220 strides/min. I don't really notice it changing too much, probably because I am usually hanging out in the lower part of the range.

Nice little light, but...

I like this light. It just not as bright as I had hoped. Stating 800 lumens is a big stretch. The size, weight and most of the ergonomics of the light are great. I was just hoping for a bit more light. I'm also not a fan of the adjustment knob yet but I'm trying to give it a fair chance. The band works best when wearing a beanie of sorts. Not very comfortable against my bald head like other lights I have without the wonky band tightening mechanism. Don't get me wrong, It's a keeper, but not near my favorite.

Works great. Really bright and comfortable. Please use better environmentally friendly packaging.

We will ass the packaging concerns along to the manufacturer.

Heavy

It’s bright and has excellent quality color on the flood light. It is quite heavy though.
