Product Overview

The Fenix HM62-T Lightweight Headlamp is a great all-purpose compact headlamp that is made from a magnesium alloy which makes it lightweight and very durable. A large, glove-friendly switch operates four brightness levels of warm white light, plus a red light and red flash. A battery level indicator keeps you up to date on the battery’s status. Remove the included battery and recharge it by plugging in the USB-C cable into the battery’s port. The patented SPORT headband has a rotary adjustment dial. Rotate counterclockwise to loosen and clockwise to tighten—for a more secure fit. Small, lightweight and even submersible underwater to 2 meters, this headlamp is a great choice for running, hiking, camping, DIY projects and more.

**The HM62-T comes with the ARB-L18-3400U V2.0, which has a USB-C port on the battery as opposed to micro-USB.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the lamp reaches a temperature of 50°C/122°F or above, it will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 50°C/122°F, the lamp will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the lamp blinks 3 times every 5 minutes on the Low output of white light mode to remind users to recharge or replace the battery.

*Note: This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series battery.

Headband Assembly

Notice: The headband is factory assembled by default.

Rotate the dial clockwise to tighten the headband, and rotate the dial counterclockwise to loosen the headband. When the headband hits its maximum length, keep rotating the dial and the operation direction will reverse.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed body can cause damage to the lamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality Fenix battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Lock the lamp or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The lamp is locked.
Solution: Press and hold the switch for 3 seconds to unlock the lamp.
    B: Poor battery level.
Solution: Recharge or replace the battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s   specifications).
C: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

  • Do NOT place this headlamp in the reach of children!
  • Do NOT shine the headlamp directly into the eyes of anyone!
  • Do NOT place the headlamp near flammable objects, high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite!
  • Do NOT use the headlamp in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the headlamp or internal battery fails!
  • This headlamp will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the headlamp shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns.
  • Turn off and lock the lamp or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • The LEDs of this headlamp are not replaceable; so the whole headlamp will need to be replaced when one of the LEDs reaches the end of its lifespan.

How to prevent accidental activation of the HM62-T?

A: Lock: with the lamp switched off, press and hold the switch for 3 seconds, the lamp will blink 4 times on the Low output of white light mode to indicate locked status.

Unlock: with the lamp locked, press and hold the switch for 3 seconds, the lamp will be activated on the Low output of white light mode.

In locked status, clicking or pressing the switches will activate 4 blinks on the Low output of white light mode to indicate locked status.

Why does the HM62-T downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A: There are two reasons:

1. Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at relatively high output levels for extended periods. When the lamp reaches a temperature of 50°C or above, the lamp will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature.

2. Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached.

Why does the HM62-T happen to flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

A: Poor battery level.

Solution: Charging the battery or replace the battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).

B: The contact point or contact of the battery or headlamp is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

What kind of battery can be used in HM62-T?

A: Fenix ARB-L18-3400U V2.0 battery is recommended. Compatible with 2 x CR123A batteries. Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended. As High output fail to headlamp up due to current and voltage limitation, an unmatched battery may cause the headlamp to fail to work normally.  Please note the original ARB-L18-3400U battery uses micro-USB charging, while the ARB-L18-3400U V2.0 uses USB-C.  The original 3400U battery may also be used in the light if you have a micro-USB cord to charge that battery.

No-compromise lightweight lamp

I was looking for an all-purpose light for hunting, camping, fishing, etc. this lamp checks all the boxes. Needing lightweight and a red lamp narrowed my search to this model.

HM62-T Headlamp

I am a big fan of Fenix and have several of their flashlights for my personal use as well as having given several as gifts. I liked the actual light of this headlamp and appreciated all of its features as well as max brightness. However, I did not like the headband at all. The knob adjustment just seems out-of-sync with the quality and performance of a Fenix product and I did not like its added size when securing it away in the pouch of my backpack. Obviously the strap is important and kind of makes the (good) light a headlamp. I would have kept the headlamp if it came with a traditional strap.

Hi T.B. - just wanted to send you a note for future reference - any of the headlamps that have a 'T' in the name are going to have this same headband style, as they are meant for quick tightening or loosening. They are a 'trail running' series, so, while that is of course not the only purpose this headband was created specifically with sports uses in mind. That being said, the band on this light can also be swapped out with the AFH-02 or AFH-03 replacement bands too for a 'normal' band.

Dropped the ball

I LOVE Fenix lights. I have so many of them that I lost count. This is a really nice light...simple and very effective and I really like the headband adjustment. The Big Bad is that you have to take the battery out to charge it...BAD IDEA....a pain in the butt. I have one of their older headlights and you just plug it in to recharge. I dont know why they did not do the same with this one. Would I buy it again...NO...I love the light but having to remove the battery to charge is a deal breaker for me.

Hi Bruce - we do have multiple headlamps that have the charging port on the lamp itself. We also have a large customer base that prefers that their light does not have a port on it for various reasons. A quick way to know if the light itself has onboard charging is that there will be an 'R' in the name, indicating that the light itself is rechargeable with the port. i.e.m HM65R, HM65R-T V2, HM70R, HM75R etc. There are a couple older model flashlights that are an expection (I believe UC35 V2.0 is the only one still in production). Other than that, look for the 'R' in the name of the light and you will know that one has the port on the light and you won't have to remove the battery.

The All Around Light

I’ve purchased many Fenix Lights. As always I’ve not purchased a single product from Fenix that created disappointment. Every product is excellent products.
This new light I purchased just for around the house. Weather trying to read fine print in a book or looking for my doggie in the yard at 1:00am. It is awesome. Have you ever tried to tighten a screw on glasses without enough light to see that tiny screw. Well with this little bad boy, light will no longer be an issue. Even better you’ll have two hands free to play with whatever you’re playing with. GREAT BUY.

Light is great, but tension cords may not last.

The light itself is great, as are my other Fenix flashlights. Red light function very handy. Concerned about the headband though, the tiny tension cords will fail at some point, and then the light is useless. The tightening mechanism is too complicated, and the tension cords are the weakest point. They droop and hang when the the light is not worn, which makes them susceptible to cuts and abrasion. Better to have a simple elastic band that can be tightened with one pull. Unless I can swap-in a different DIY headband, I'm returning this model because of the headband design.

The headband itself was very comfortable and easy to adjust. The light was super bright and the different modes made it very convenient to use.
