Rechargeable battery (Li-ion)

Warning: *21700 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only use quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; but cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap to insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on higher output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of higher modes.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 Series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lock the light or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery pack /battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

  • Do place this light out of the reach of children!
  • Do NOT shine the light directly into the eyes of anyone!
  • Do NOT shine flammable objects at close range, to avoid burning objects or causing danger due to high temperature!
  • Do NOT use the light in inappropriate ways such as biting in the mouth, to avoid personal injury or life threats when the light or internal battery fails!
  • This light will accumulate a lot of heat while working, resulting in a high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding.
  • Turn off and lock the light or remove the battery from the light to prevent accidental activation when the light is placed in a closed and flammable environment such as pockets and backpacks!
  • The LED of this flashlight is not replaceable; so the whole light should be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its life.

Great All Around Tactical Flashlight!

I spent 30 years in law enforcement so I understand the need for a reliable light with both adequate flood and good throw. I own a few quality lights including the excellent, pocket sized Fenix E35 V3, but most are more flood, and the one with decent throw has a very yellowish beam tint.

Initially I was undecided between the Fenix TK20 V2.0 and the TK22 TAC, which I purchased, but the 56,600 cd vs. the 74,000cd helped me decide since I wanted more throw. I also liked the TK22 TAC’s ability to be turned off mechanically.

The Duty mode satisfies all usual flashlight needs, and for me turning the end cap for Turbo is not an issue. Moreover, Strobe is available in either mode, and the high in Duty mode is more than adequate for most needs.

The TK22 TAC has become my favorite light, and if I could only own one flashlight it would be this because it checks so many boxes:
It's rugged and has a high quality finish. The UI is simple with very good button response. The spill is almost flood like and the throw casts a large round beam that's truly outstanding. Moreover, the light beam's color is very white without any green or yellow tinge.

My only criticism is that there’s no led to show the battery strength remaining, but for me that’s not much of an issue since I always buy a spare battery for my lights.

I can’t imagine that anyone would be disappointed with this very high quality TK22 TAC, which I can honestly recommend.

Thanks for the review, and happy to hear you love the light! For future reference, for the most part, the LED that tells you battery life is only on the rechargeable lights - meaning the lights with the charging port on the battery itself. These lights will have an R in the name (i.e., PD36R, TK16R V2 etc.)

Great light

The light is great. Nice bright beam with decent spill. I have the tk16 v2 and I switched the tail caps with the 22and 16 and like that setup even better. I would love to see Fenix make upgrades and more accessories but great light.

Great light output...horrible switch.

I've bought countless Fenix lights through the years...from compact lights all the way through the top of the line. The light output on the TK22 Tac is phenomenal, which is what I expect from Fenix. But the switch is horrible. It takes far too much pressure to activate constant mode. Most of the time when trying to turn it on, I just succeed in changing the momentary brightness and have to cycle through levels again to get to the original brightness. Tail switches on other Fenix lights have been great.

A very good light

I am a lumen junkie and thought I would give this light a checkout. I like the size and weight of the light. The beam has a weak outer perimeter with a very hot spot in the center. It allows the user to see activity in the peripheral area vs concentrating just on the hot spot. The output is nice and battery usage is good. The switch at the tail of the light feels cheap. Will it stand up to duty use or packing out an animal from the wilderness is yet to be seen.

Overall I would prefer a more even distribution of light across the beam (brighter edges) and a more robust switch, hence the 4 star review. This is a good light but there is room for improvement.

Great flashlight

I purchased the TK-22 TAC to replace an older light that was 800 lumens for many different outdoor hunting and fishing applications and it has out performed all my expectations.

Keep in mind this thing can get hot
