Caution*

Warning: It is strictly prohibited to use the 18650, CR123A, or 16340 battery.

*21700 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion. Cell damage or short circuiting are considered user induced damage and are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Charging

  1. Loosen the light head to reveal the USB Type-C charging port and plug the USB-A socket of the charging cable into an electrical outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.

  2. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.

  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to tighten the light head to maintain the dustproof and waterproof ability.

Note:

  1. When charging fails or the battery is reversely connected, the battery indicator will flash red to remind the user to check the battery.

  2. The normal charging time of the flashlight is about 3.5 hours from depletion to fully charged. The flashlight cannot be operated while charging.

*These feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L21 series battery.

Battery level indication

Each time the light is turned on, the indicator (unscrew the light head to see) will indicate the battery level and will last for 3 seconds.

Green light on: saturated 100% - 85%

Green light flashes: sufficient 85% - 50%

Red light on: poor 50% - 25%

Red light flashes: critical 25% - 1%

Note: This feature only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C/140°F or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C/140°F, the light will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This feature only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fully charge the light in time to ensure normal function the next time it is needed.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Turn off and lock the light or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Replace or recharge the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Terrific tactical light!

As the owner of about 40 flashlights (and no I don't need that many) this is a powerful easy to use tactical light. It is a little on the big size, but if you are able to carry it, you won't be disappointed.

Too Hot

I love the brightness of my TK22R light but the lens end gets way too hot. After a few minutes you can barely touch the end of the light because of how hot it gets.
Not good.

Hi Joe - so yes, the light can get hot, which is to be expected when something that size emits 3200 lumens (57400 cd). The light does have a built in overheat protection that will kick in to protect the user as well as the light. We certainly don't recommend holding on to the light down by the lens. From the operating instructions:

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C/140°F or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C/140°F, the light will gradually recall the preset output level.

Quality, rugged and BRIGHT

This is my second Fenix flashlight and I really love this brand. I'm one of those crazy people that over researches before I make a purchase, so I didn't exactly stumble upon Fenix. I've been so happy with my first Fenix flashlight (PD36R) that I decided to buy a slightly larger, brighter flashlight for a secondary use. I LOVE it, but the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I do not like how they changed the method to change between strobe and bright light, and the different light levels for the 2nd setting. You have to do this half tap thing and sometimes I over press, causing the light to turn off. Also, in a tactical situation I think it could cause a problem. I like the functions much better on the PD36R. However, one major improvement is the addition of an off switch, preventing the flashlight from turning on accidentally. I burned my leg once because my light accidentally turned on inside of my pocket, so having this safeguard is very smart.
