The Fenix HT30R is a white laser flashlight. A Class 1 laser emits a broad spectrum white light, allowing this flashlight to throw 500 lumens a jaw-dropping distance of 4921 feet (1500m)—that is just under a mile! The laser light creates an extremely focused spotlight beam, with little spill over light. The dual tail switches operate on/off and momentary on plus 3 lighting modes. Twist the flashlights’ head to reveal the hidden USB Type-C charging port and recharge the light when the battery level indicator shows you are running on low. IP68 rated dustproof and waterproof. Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light tail and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light tail back on.

Charging the HT30R

  1. Loosen the light head counterclockwise to reveal the USB Type-C charging port and plug the USB A socket of the charging cable into an electrical outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to tighten the light head to maintain the dustproof and waterproof ability.

Note:

  1. When charging fails or the battery is reversely connected, the battery indicator will flash red to remind the user to check the battery.
  2. The normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 is approximately 3 hours from depletion to full charging. The light is unavailable while charging.
  3. When the charging port is exposed or the light neck is not tightened, the battery indicator flashes and the light is unavailable.
  4. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Battery Level Indication

Unscrew the light neck to see the battery indicator. Each time the light is turned on, the battery indicator will flash to show the remaining battery power.

  • Green light flashes: 100% - 30%
  • Red light flashes: 30% - 1%

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on High mode for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user the reselection of High mode.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the Low mode is reached. When this happens in Low mode, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using only a high-quality protected battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery for proper storage.
  • Unscrew the tail cap or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light's performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.
B: The contact or contact point of the battery or flashlight is dirty.

Reviews

The Pocket-Sized Lightsaber

"The Fenix HT30R is not your average flashlight; it is a White Laser (LEP - Laser Excited Phosphor) flashlight designed for extreme distances. While a standard LED flashlight floods an area with light, the HT30R produces a tightly focused, laser-like beam with almost zero "spill," reaching an astonishing distance of up to 1,500 meters (nearly a mile) on just 500 lumens. Performance and BuildBecause it uses a Class 1 laser to excite a phosphor element, the beam is incredibly intense. It cuts through the dark, smoke, and fog like a physical pillar of light. The build quality is exceptional, featuring Fenix's signature rugged aluminum body, dual tactical tail switches for instant strobe and mode cycling, and a clever hidden USB-C charging port built into the neck of the light to protect it from water and dust. The Pros:Incredible Throw: Pierces the darkness up to 1,500 meters, making it ideal for search and rescue, hunting, or signaling. Excellent Form Factor: Surprisingly compact for a light with this much range. It fits easily in a jacket pocket or on a belt. Hidden USB-C Port: The twist-to-reveal charging port is a great design choice that maintains the light's IP68 waterproof rating. Tactical Tail Cap: The dual-switch design is intuitive and allows for quick, no-look operation. The Cons:Not for General Use: Because there is no ambient "spill" light, this is terrible for walking the dog, navigating a dark house, or close-up work. The hotspot is too intense and narrow. Price: LEP technology is expensive, and this light is an investment. The VerdictThe Fenix HT30R is a highly specialized tool. If you need a general-purpose flashlight for your glovebox or nightstand, look elsewhere. However, if you are a hunter, first responder, or flashlight enthusiast who needs to put a spotlight on a target a half-mile away, the HT30R is one of the best and most reliable LEP lights on the market."

A Real-Life Lightsaber – Unbelievable Distance!

"If you have never used a white laser (LEP) flashlight before, the Fenix HT30R will absolutely blow your mind. Unlike a traditional LED that floods a wide area with light, this thing shoots a tightly focused, pure beam of light that reaches out to insane distances—nearly a mile! Here is why this specialized light earns a flawless 5 stars: Unmatched Extreme Throw: I specifically wanted something with serious reach, and packing this for a trip out to Jackson Hole proved exactly how capable it is. The ability to pierce through the darkness and clearly spot wildlife like moose and elk across massive, wide-open spaces at night is staggering. There is virtually no spill, meaning it puts all its power exactly where you point it without blinding you with backscatter. Smart Charging Design: The hidden USB-C charging port is brilliant. By twisting the head of the flashlight, you expose the port, meaning when it is sealed, it is completely protected from water, dust, and grime. Tactical Tail Switch: The dual tail switch is perfectly executed. It provides instant access to the strobe and allows you to easily cycle through the high and low modes without fumbling around in the dark. Excellent Battery Life: The included 5000mAh 21700 battery provides plenty of runtime for long nights outdoors, ensuring you are never left in the dark when you need to reach out and see what is miles down the trail. The Verdict: The HT30R is a highly specialized tool, but if you need to see something incredibly far away—whether for search and rescue, scanning vast acreage, or spotting wildlife at extreme ranges—it is worth every single penny. Fenix executed this LEP design perfectly. Highly recommended!"

Useless after 1 and a half years

"I understand why this light is discontinued. I bought this for our son a Navy E5 in May of 2024 and its useless. New battery doesn't help it, so it's not a charging problem. It appears the light itself has gone kaput. SO very disappointing!"

Michelle G. (1/5)

Wickedly bright!!!

"I love this light. I work in the field doing fiber optic work and this light is incredible for seeing the poles in the darkness. Also works great when im looking for the predators that are hunting my chickens. Insane bright! I like to shoot it up into the clouds and pretend I'm calling for batman too!!"

Sturdy, bright af, great

"Sturdy, bright af, great fun in the arenas I work in."

You never gave me

"You never gave me my 10% discount on this light that you promised me. The light is fantastic!"

Handheld power house! This

"Handheld power house! This light makes my other duty lights of various brands look like birthday candles. Incredibly high intensity spot, the right amount of spill; perfect for illuminating and disorienting. Very satisfied with this purchase."

Nick F. (5/5)

Honestly, it’s fantastic. I

"Honestly, it’s fantastic. I get that it’s a laser, as in not pin-point, but a dramatically focused beam but still impressive as hell. It puts the Luxor light to shame. Only wish I had was an adjustable focus simply because it’d be one hell if a flashlight too. Not worth denying a star for, just a simple man wanting his cake and to eat it too. Buy it."

Daniel O. (5/5)

This is an awesome

"This is an awesome light and it's great at what it does, but it doesn't do much else. If you need to look at something ""way over there,"" this is the light you want. If you want a general purpose, edc light, this isn't the light for you."

Daniel P. (5/5)

The flashlight itself is

"The flashlight itself is excellent: well-made and with a well-focused beam, as promised. But I think there's room for improvement with the way it charges. First, the ability to use the light while it is being charged would permit extended uninterrupted use by connecting an external battery pack. Second, I appreciate that the charge port is designed to improve water-tightness, but I worry that the o-ring will require frequent replacement. A wireless magnetic adapter - perhaps even inductive - would provide equal or better water tightness and would never wear out."
