Switches of the Fenix TK16 V2.0 Tactical Flashlight

The round tail switch is the tactical switch for instant activation.

The oval tail switch is the functional switch for output selection and instant strobe.

On/off

Tap the tactical switch to silently and momentarily turn on the light, release the light will go out.

Fully press the tactical switch to constantly turn on the light, press again the light will go out.

Output Selection

With the light switched on, single click the functional switch to cycle through Eco→Low→Med→High→Turbo.

Strobe

With the light switched on, press and hold the functional switch for 0.5 seconds to enter strobe, click the functional switch once again to turn back to the general mode.

With the light switched off, press the functional switch to enter strobe, release the light will go out.

Intelligent Memory Circuit

The light memorizes the last selected output excluding strobe. When turned on again the previously used output of general mode will be recalled.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.

Charging

Remove the battery from the TK16 V2.0 and plug the included charging cord into the port on the battery, with the other end plugged into a USB wall brick.

Usage and Maintenance of the Fenix TK16 V2.0 Tactical Flashlight

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Unscrew the light tail or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light's performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.
C: Use incompatible 21700 battery or the first-generation Fenix ARB-L21-5000 battery.
Solution: Use the designated Fenix ARB-L21-5000U, or Fenix ARB-L21-4000P battery.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warning

  • This flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the flashlight directly into anyone's eyes.
  • This flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used for extended periods, resulting in high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding.
  • All information provided in this manual is subject to change without prior notice.

Q1. What are the key features and benefits of TK16 V2.0?

A:  1. Advanced Pulse-Frequency Transmission System (APF)

2. Instant activation and strobe with the dual tactical tail switches.

3. Stainless steel strike bezel with inlaid tungsten steel breaking tips.

4. Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with an anti-reflective coating.

Q2. What kind of LED is used in TK16 V2.0? And what are the beam angles?

A: LED: Luminus SST70 LED

Beam angles: spot beam angle - 11°, spill beam angle - 65°.

Q3. Does TK16 V2.0 have overheated protection?

A: Yes. The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output level for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.

Q4. What battery does the TK16 V2.0 support?

A: It supports the designated Fenix ARB-L21-5000U, or Fenix ARB-L21-4000P battery.

Q5.  Can I bring the TK16 V2.0 on a plane?

A.  Apparently it seems to depend on the TSA Agent/Airport.  While our employees have not encountered an issue, we have received a report of TSA requiring the light be in checked bags due to the glass breaking tips.    As such, we highly recommend that you place the TK16 V2.0 into checked bags as a precaution in the event you encounter a TSA agent that will not allow it on the plane.   We would hate to have you lose the light to TSA.

Q6.  What is the APF?

A:The APF (Advanced Pulse-Frequency Transmission System) was developed by the Fenix laboratory, a major technology breakthrough in flashlight industry, allowing the tactical flashlight achieve a higher level of performance:

1. Takes light to the extreme. Traditional forward switches are limited by current, and it is difficult to achieve brightness above 2000 lumens. In the age of 21700 batteries gradually expanding, 3100 lumens tactical flashlights are almost impossible, whereas a flashlight using APF technology can reach these higher lumen levels.

2. Makes the functional tail cap simpler. Traditional multi-function tail caps need to achieve functionality through the double-layer body or additional channels. A flashlight using APF technology offers a strong reliable flashlight in a simple structure, specifically, a single layer body.

Q7. What should I do if the TK16 V2.0 needs repair?

A: 1. 15-day replacement: Fenix will replace identical or equal products with documented manufacturing defects within 15 days of purchase.

2. 2-year free repair: Fenix will repair a light free of charge within 2 years of purchase if problems develop with normal use.

3. Lifetime maintenance: If repair is required after 2 years from the date of purchase, Fenix will charge for parts. The total repair fee is dictated by the cost of the replaced materials.

Great Light, Poor Storage

I love the light! It is amazingly bright for such a small package and outshines the high beams on my vehicle! However, this light is challenging to keep in a holster as the unprotected tail switch easily bumps on and off if I am moving swiftly, even when in the solid holster I purchased separately.

a user's thoughts

The TK16 v2.0 is my top choice for general use. I bought 10 of them, including for family members etc. Please consider: every instance of added features and convenience lessens reliability and carry-ability. I.e. a) strobe is for raw temporary incapacitation, we should leave it working simply for that potentially very important job. B) of course the light warms up on its higher settings - it's making 3100 lumens from a small size! C) a built-in charger would make the TK16 bulkier while the light is big enough now. There is apparently also another model that has direct charging on the light, please look into it. Finally, if you got a rare defective light, make sure to reach out to the company, indications are that they will investigate and correct for sure. Thank You Fenix lights and FenixLighting!

Great light but..

Bought two of these + pressure switch and alg05 mount. The torch isnt bad at all and Fenix pressure switch works perfectly with this model. The main problem I have is that I cant change brightness of the strobe. It would be so much better to be able to set strobe for 150-350 lumens for training purposes.

Gets too hot

We bought two of these flashlights. The brightness is great, however, they are sometimes too hot! And it's not after long periods of use either. It's within seconds or minutes. I will definitely be purchasing another brand.

Hi Marianne - please note that the light does have Intelligent Overheat protection. In general, an item of this size will accumulate heat with those high lumen levels. Per the Operating Instructions:

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.
