Warning: *21700 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only use quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; but cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap to insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on higher output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of higher modes.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 Series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Usage and Maintenance of the PD36TAC

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lock the light or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery pack /battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The contact or contact point of the battery or flashlight is dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Made for professional use, security and law enforcement, the PD36 TAC is truly countable to deliver reliable, powerful lighting for a wide range of situations.

Q2. What are the key features and benefits of PD36 TAC?

A:  1. Tactical and Duty modes for flexibly needed choice and operation.

    2. Patented dual-function tactical switch for instantly tactical activation.

3. Single-handed toggle switch for mode selection.

4. Lockout function avoids accidental activation.

Q3. What kind of LED is used in PD36 TAC? And what are the beam angles?

A: A Luminus SST70 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Beam angles: spot beam angle 16°, spill beam angle 81°.

Q4. Does PD36 TAC have overheated protection?

A: Yes. The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on higher output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of higher modes.

Q5. What battery does the PD36 TAC support?

A: It supports one rechargeable 21700 Li-ion battery.

Q6. What are the optional accessories for PD36 TAC?

A: ALG-00 rail mount, ALG-18 rail mount, AER-05 remote pressure switch, AOD-S V2.0 diffuser tip, ALP-10S flashlight holster, and more.

Q7. What is the APF?

A: The APF (Advanced Pulse-frequency Transmission System) was developed by Fenix Laboratory for producing better flashlights. It has abandoned the traditional development way, breaking through the technology bottleneck, allowing flashlight with a tail switch to achieve a higher level of performance:

1. Higher output: the APF system has made higher lumens from a forward switch possible, it breaks the limitation of current.

2. Simpler multi-functional tail switch: this APF technology can transmit various signal commands through a single layer within the light body. Traditional signal transmission requires a multi-layer system. Thanks to this new single-layer system, the light size can be greatly reduced and the structure will be more compact.

3. Better anti-interference performance: the APF system combats signal interference, but it doesn't work if it is applied to a magnetic switch. Therefore, the PD36 TAC will be less prone to interference based on the use of a mechanical switch.

Q8. What should I do if the PD36 TAC needs repair?

A: 1. 15-day replacement: Fenix will replace identical or equal products with documented manufacturing defects within 15 days of purchase.

2. 2-year free repair: Fenix will repair a light free of charge within 2 years of purchase if problems develop with normal use.

3. Lifetime maintenance: If repair is required after 2 years from the date of purchase, Fenix will charge for parts. The total repair fee is dictated by the cost of the replaced materials.

The Ultimate light…

Hey it’s hard picking/choosing any of these flashlights. Ya want ‘em all! I just graduated from the 2,800 Lumens to the 3,000. Love the tactical side of it being sealed tight. Almost waterproof. Ya have to take the battery out to charge it. Love the tactical switch at the end cap. It helps that it was on sale at the time. Now that price is the usual one. Ah marketing gets me every time. Either way Fenix lights are worth the price compared to others. My close friend did all the research on Fenix, & he’s particular. I trust his opinion, & you should too.

Best work light for me.

I love this light. I bought another light from Fenix when I cracked the lens of my old light. Fenix suggested I replace at that time with the regular PD36 and so I did. But I was a bit unhappy with the charging port on the outside and once that ripped off from the abuse my light gets as a mechanic the second issue was I would accidentally turn it on with the tail switch. The PD-36 TAC solved both these issues. Now I charge the battery by plugging directly into the usb C right on the battery. No dust cover to tear. Or port to get wet, greasy, dusty etc… next is the cap I just rotate to the center and it’s locked. I give a press to verify and I’m good. No more accidental turn on’s. Plus all the functions are through the tail cap on this model. No side switch to fumble with. I have about 8 Fenix lights of various types. They all have been great but some are better for my work application. My first unit could tail stand (Note: the PD-36 TAC can’t tail stand) and a 1/8 rotation would protect from accidental turn on. My new lights I bought for my wife and daughter for camping will also tail stand but with a great magnet base so you could hang also. Plus the double clip can go pocket or slide onto a hat for a quick head lamp. Every light this company makes is excellent and well worth the cost but there is often sales to take advantage of. The quality is on par if not better than sure fire. Fact is for me and my family we all have FENIX no sure fire. Hope you enjoy your light as much as I do. I bet I use my light 10+ times every day and that rotor switch has been worked hard. I bought two additional PD-36 TAC’s because I got them on a good sale for about $90 each with the Memorial Day sale. So I bought 2 extra. Maybe I keep or maybe I gift. Thanks FENIX for making the best product that my money can buy. Mike R, California service Technician

Middle of the road light

The light is pretty good on the brighter modes, but has an awful greenish tint on the lower powers. The tailswitch is plastic and the body feels like it's made of some type of plastic, even though it's metal. It just doesn't feel very high quality at all. So far, I've had no issues with operation and the battery seems to last for quite a while even in the brighter modes. The light just doesn't feel like a quality product and the green tint to the LED on lower power is the only reason I give it 3 stars instead of 5.

Great flashlight and battery light but it overheats very quickly to the point it started to burn a hole in my pants. Other than that great flashlight.

Ok Light, not as reliable as PD 35 TAC

Ran the PD 35 Tac for years and loved how reliable and durable it was. Replaced it with the 36 tac for my daily carry and it always seems to be getting jammed up with dust. The button gets sticky and difficult to operate or quits working at times.
