Switches of the Fenix TK16 V2.0 Tactical Flashlight
The round tail switch is the tactical switch for instant activation.
The oval tail switch is the functional switch for output selection and instant strobe.
On/off
Tap the tactical switch to silently and momentarily turn on the light, release the light will go out.
Fully press the tactical switch to constantly turn on the light, press again the light will go out.
Output Selection
With the light switched on, single click the functional switch to cycle through Eco→Low→Med→High→Turbo.
Strobe
With the light switched on, press and hold the functional switch for 0.5 seconds to enter strobe, click the functional switch once again to turn back to the general mode.
With the light switched off, press the functional switch to enter strobe, release the light will go out.
Intelligent Memory Circuit
The light memorizes the last selected output excluding strobe. When turned on again the previously used output of general mode will be recalled.
Intelligent Overheat Protection
The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.
Low-voltage Warning
When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.
Charging
Remove the battery from the TK16 V2.0 and plug the included charging cord into the port on the battery, with the other end plugged into a USB wall brick.
Usage and Maintenance of the Fenix TK16 V2.0 Tactical Flashlight
- Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
- Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
- If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
- Unscrew the light tail or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
- Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
- Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.C: Use incompatible 21700 battery or the first-generation Fenix ARB-L21-5000 battery.
Solution: Use the designated Fenix ARB-L21-5000U, or Fenix ARB-L21-4000P battery.
If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

This flashlight is not safe. While one should be careful I however think there should be some sort of lockout or thermal chip or something. I had to get up in a hurry for something and the light happened to hit the counter as I stood up. Within 3 seconds some smoke was seen on the camera coming from my pocket. Within 5 seconds I felt it burning and removed and tossed the light to find a hole burned thru my 5.11 pants.
I called Fenix to report it as myself and a City of Phoenix Police Officer now have both has issues with this light and my resulted in personal injuries of a burn. I was just told that the light functioned correct and nothing is wrong. I would beg to differ that a light should not be able to do that or even holding a napkin infront within seconds that will start to smoke. This seems to be trying to push the light to far thus making to much heat and placing others in danger.

We do not have a flashlight that will produce enough heat in 5 seconds to even feel warm in a pocket. I would definitely say something has to be wrong if it has done that. You can email us directly at [email protected] with the video you produced showing that.
As for heat sensor or lockout, here are the details:
Lockout-Provide a quarter turn to the tail cap and the light will be disconnected from all power to the light and not able to turn on.
The light does also have Intelligent Overheat Protection, here are the details of that for this light:
The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.
This flashlight has the ability to switch modes. If you do not want to use the turbo mode, the light can be reprogrammed by the second switch to Eco-Low-Med-High…High at 1000 lumens would perhaps work for you. The intelligent memory feature will allow the light to turn on for that mode each time you operate. Thus if the light was on turbo when it was turned off, it will come back on at turbo. If it is on eco when turned off, it will come back on at eco. If using the above listed lockout of disengaging the battery, the light will always turn back on at eco.

Excellent construction and ease of use. The battery seems to last forever. Small and lightweight for the amount of light it produces. Excellent quality as with all Fenix products.

Super bright. Easy to charge. Controls make sense and are quickly learned. Only concern is the extreme heat generated by the bulb. In a few minutes at Turbo, the whole flashlight started to get hot, almost to the point of concern. If I left it on, I was afraid it would be too hot to hold bare handed. And I was also concerned about where to safely sit it down while hot.

It’s a really good flashlight but the one thing that would have made it better is having a internal charging capability with a USB connection. That’s the only thing that needs to be done to make it a perfect flashlight. The compact size, the really high lite output, the glass breaker well those things are all absolutely great in one package.
