  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance, as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:

A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s   specifications).

B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

I got this lantern as a backup to use alkaline batteries for when all my 18650s are dead and unable to power my other Fenix lanterns from extended power outages. The lantern is a little smaller than I thought it would be which is great. It is significantly heavier than I thought it would be, but not so heavy that it would significantly weigh down a backpack. it feels incredibly well built. I am like that the batteries run in parallel a lot, maximizing capacity and giving versatility to use fewer batteries. The brightness modes are very well spaced out and thoughtfully chosen to maximize both usability and runtime. In the image I have several Fenix lanterns set to Max brightness for comparison. From left to right cl09, cl25r, cl23 (this lantern), cl30.

I purchase 3 of these intending to use them with rechargeable batteries.
None of the 6 different brands of rechargeable batteries I tried will fit in these lights.
I expected so much better from Fenix.
