Caution*

!

*18650 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion. Cell abuse or short circuiting are considered user induced damage and are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Charging

  1. First switch off the light and plug the USB A socket of the charging cable into an appropriate A/C powered USB plug/outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust cover.

Note:

  1. When charging fails or the battery is inserted backwards, the battery indicator will flash red or stop working to notify the user to check the battery condition.
  2. The normal charging time of the flashlight is approximately 3.5 hours from depletion to fully charged.
  3. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.
  4. If the battery level indicator blinks or fails to operate, please check out the battery. It is strictly prohibited to charge a CR123A or a 16340 battery.

Note: These features only work with a Fenix ARB-L18  battery.

Battery level indication

Each time the light is turned on, the indicator will indicate the battery level and will last for 3 seconds.

Green light on: saturated 100% - 85%

Green light flashes: sufficient 85% - 50%

Red light on: poor 50% - 25%

Red light flashes: critical 25% - 1%

Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18  battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 65°C/149°F or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 65°C/149°F, it will then allow the user to select these heat intensive modes again.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the lamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind you to replace or recharge the battery.

Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Replace or recharge the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

A Great Cop Flashlight

"I’m a police officer who works mainly during daylight hours. This is the perfect flashlight for me. It is not the brightest light that Fenix makes, but it is still much brighter than my old rechargeable light from another popular manufacturer of LEO flashlights. The fact it uses a 18650 battery makes it smaller and lighter than a 27100 light. This is a big deal if you have to carry a bunch of things on your person every day. If you work mainly during the daytime, you don’t need the extra battery runtime. The simple user interface makes it very easy to use in the field. Only three output levels, low-med-high, controlled using a secondary switch. The main switch is for on-off-momentary, only. Easy, simple, no unnecessary extras. The larger reflector gives extra candela, which is great for throwing light into dark areas. Onboard USBC charging means I can use the same charger that I use to charge my phone. No need for proprietary charging cradles. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast or an EDC junkie, the lack of extra brightness settings and features may be a turn off for you. If you’re LEO or security and need a simple and reliable tactical light, this is a great choice. I wish Fenix made a 27100 powered equivalent to the Tk11R, which was capable of extra runtime and lumen output, but which also kept the simple low-med-high user interface. Would make the ideal light for the night-shift."

I like the momentary on

"I like the momentary on feature. it lends itself well to room clearing. You don’t have to depress the button all the way. The lowest setting is good enough in confined spaces because the higher setting creates too much spill and you can blind yourself. This flashlight is so bright that I can see past 2 acres. I haven’t tested the throw any farther but 2 acres is impressive to me. Next is I love that this flashlight is rechargeable because it save money. I carry this with me as an EDC but it’s I need a slimmer light so I will buy a different model from Fenix that has similar features. This is my third Fenix light. I trust this brand over most of the competition for its value, reliability, and build quality."

"Awesome light! I have numerous lights from Fenix and while this one uses the 18650 battery instead of the 21700, it is almost negligible on the high setting compared to the more expensive ones i have. Plus its used as a weapon light where im not using it as much as ones i use for scanning property for critters. Battery life still seems to last a good amount of time and after numerous uses still had plenty of battery. The 21700 battery models i can go weeks using it numerous times during the week before i need to charge and even then it still has battery life left. Fenix for the win!"

Great light. Great option

"Great light. Great option for a rail mount. Like it because it’s not TOO bright. Only thing I wish Fenix did was offer a single button turbo/high tailswitch. Will definitely buy more in the future."

Super bright, compact, great

"Super bright, compact, great quality, so far I'm loving it. Haven't put it through any torture tests yet, we'll see how well it holds up sitting right next to my A2 flash hider on my next trip to the range."

Purchased a TK20R a

"Purchased a TK20R a couple years ago and it quit working. Thought it was the battery so I purchased a new battery. Come to find out the flashlight was the problem. So I contacted the warranty department and mailed it to them. The reply was quick in that the replacement part was obsolete. No problem though, the reply included a generous discount on a new flashlight. So we purchased a replacement flashlight. Every person along the way were friendly and helpful."
