Cell damage or short circuiting caused by using these types of battery is considered user induced damage and is not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light body and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light body back on.

Charging

  1. With the flashlight switched off, open the anti-dust cover to reveal the charging port, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the flashlight.

  2. The indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged.

  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to close the anti-dust cover.

  4. With the flashlight switched off, the normal charging time of the Fenix ARB-L18-3400 battery is about 3 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5 V/2 A charging adapter. Only Moonlight output and Low output can be operated while charging.

  5. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery.

Battery level indication

Each time the light is turned on, the battery level indicator in the middle of the switch will automatically display the battery status for 3 seconds.

Green light on: saturated 100% - 85%

Green light flashes: sufficient 85% - 50%

Red light on: poor 50% - 25%

Red light flashes: critical 25% - 1%

Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series rechargeable battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. The light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature to a safe level when this situation occurs.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below 3.0 V, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Moonlight output is reached. When this happens in Moonlight output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind you to replace or recharge the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery level runs out.

Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series rechargeable battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Replace or recharge the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warning

  • Do NOT place this flashlight in the reach of children!
  • Do NOT shine the flashlight directly into the eyes of anyone!
  • Do NOT place light head near flammable objects, high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite!
  • Do NOT use the flashlight in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the flashlight or internal battery fails!
  • This flashlight will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns.
  • Remove the battery from the flashlight to prevent accidental activation when the flashlight is placed in a closed-in and flammable environment such as pockets and backpacks!
  • The LED of this flashlight is not replaceable; so the whole flashlight will need to be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its lifespan.

What kind of LED is used in LD30R? Does Fenix offer to replace LED?

A: A Luminus SST40 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

A: Around 6000K.

What is the working voltage of LD30R?

A: The operating voltage is 3.0 - 6.4 V. The max operating current is 6 A.

Is LD30R rechargeable? How long is the charging time?

A: LD30R is rechargeable. The normal charging time of the Fenix ARB-L18-3400 battery is about 3 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5V/2A charging adapter. Only Moonlight output and Low output can be operated while charging. When charging is complete, please replace the anti-dust cap to ensure waterproof and dustproof ability.

How to prevent accidental activation of the LD30R?

A: Unscrew the light body, or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation.

Why does the LD30R downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A:

There are two reasons:

1. Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. Therefore the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature to a safe level when this situation occurs.

2. Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below 3.0 V, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the Moonlight mode is reached.

A.  The light is waterproof so long as the battery port cover is in place.

What should I do if the LD30R needs repair?

A: 1. 15-day replacement: Fenix will replace identical or equal products with documented manufacturing defects within 15 days of purchase.

2. 5-year free repair: Fenix will repair a light free of charge within 5 years (rechargeable battery and other accessories: 1 year) of purchase if problems develop with normal use.

Another Great Flashlight from Fenix!

We own 5 Fenix flashlights and love them all. The LD30R is a nice addition to our collection, plenty bright for checking out things on our ranch and the lower light settings are helpful for navigating house when lights are out.

A feature that I particularly like is the tail switch. At night, when it's dark, the tail switch is easy to find and actuate. There's a side switch is for adjusting brightness and other settings. We have a Fenix E28R V2.0--another terrific, smaller flashlight--that lacks the tail switch and only has the side switch for on/off function and modes. I definitely prefer the LD30R's switch design.

The LD30R Flashlight is solidly built, feels good in my hand and is a great size (easy to stow in pants or shirt pocket). There aren't any dings or minuses with this light. Very pleased!

One reviewer dinged the light a star (giving a 4-star review) for the holster and being "expensive." I don't need or want a holster, so I can't really weight in on that one, but this is a high quality flashlight and, to me, reasonably priced. Does it cost more than a lot of other flashlights, sure. Is it significantly brighter, more durable and better designed than other flashlights, you bet!

Top shelf but expensive

I use my LD30 daily, I love having the 5 levels of brightness! I rarely need to use the brightest setting. It’s rugged and the switch is reliable. I love that it uses the same battery as my Fenix headlamp. The only complaint I have is the cheap belt holster it comes with. But good news! , Amazon has a great after market holster for it. I did purchase an LD30R recently for my brother who gives it high praise so far. The Amazon holster also fits the LD30R with a little sanding and fitting. If you use a flashlight daily this is a great choice if it’s in your budget.

This light is a nice extremely bright little light. It is a great light to have in your pocket for your night walks with the dog. However there is an issue. You have to use the charger cord sent with the light. It is different in that it is slightly longer. Do not the make the mistake and think you can go on a trip with just one charging cord. You need to have this one or you will not be charging it. It is a bad design flaw.

Hi Scott - thank you for the review. We were just testing out some charging cables with the LD30R. I do see that the port seems to be a little recessed compared to some other lights, and the cords we have are slightly longer in the metal portion that goes into the port. We have tested out several other brands of USB-C charging cords and all of them but 1 worked to charge the light, despite being slightly shorter than the cord it comes with. You should be able to check out any of your other USB-C cords to verify that they will work so that you don't need to take multiple cords with you when travelling.
