Unscrew the battery cover and insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.

Charging

  1. Open the anti-dust cap and plug the USB Type-C end of the charging cable into the charging port of the headlamp.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust cover to prevent the ingress of dust and debris.

Note:

  1. The normal charging time of the included battery is approximately 2.5 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5 V/2.6 A charging adapter.

When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the headlamp will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the lowest output is reached. When this happens in the lowest output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind users to recharge or replace the battery in a timely manner.

*This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series battery.

Headband Assembly

Notice: The headband is factory assembled and ready to use right out of the package.
Adjust the headband by sliding the buckle to the required length.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the headlamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the headlamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Turn off and lock the headlamp or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the O-ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:

    A: Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

B: The contact or contact point of the battery or headlamp is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

Excellent Headlamp for working on

"Excellent Headlamp for working on assorted projects that need hands free lighting. Battery life is great, and the different settings all work well. I expected to use the floodlight more, but I'm finding i actually like the spot better for short to intermediate distances (1 to 15 feet). The only thing I am not crazy about is the switch - it would be nice if the two switches had more of a difference in feel, to be easier to find and identify by touch. I often have to try one to see if it does what I want, then try the other if it doesnt. I can live with that quirk though, and overall this is a huge upgrade from the cheapy harware-store Headlamp I used before."

Unexpected flickering

"I only have a little over a week with the item, and was expecting more from it. Build quality seems outstanding, but in application I was crawling in a pitch black attic and light unexpectedly flickered and turned off a few times while it was sitting on a box. I am concerned that maybe the battery is faulty. Not sure if I will keep the item, I will see if I run into any problems in the next few days."

Great headlamp

"Great headlamp, sturdy build quality and ample battery life"

Tudor (5/5)

Good light. I bought this

"Good light. I bought this for bird hunting and wanted a rechargeable light with flood, red, and maybe spot. My old Amazon cheapy only last 30 minutes now so its time for a new one. I just happen to see an add about the new v3. 0 (it was out for 2 days with no real reviews) but all the specs looked pretty good, so I got it. I've since added a YouTube video to see some none paid reviews for it. So far I've used it for 8 or 9 hunts and its going great. I like the options of flood and red levels and after putting out decoys, I can switch to the lowest red/flood and am able to see in the blind without being overly bright. I would like to compare it side by side with the HM55R RENEGADE and for my use, I would like more red/flood levels of light vs the spot."

Jeffrey B. (4/5)

"Has a whole lot of great features in a very practical 18650 size case. Red light with 4 modes, flood light with 4 modes and spotlight with 4 modes. User interface is completely intuitive to me after limited use, and lots of experience with other Fenix lights. Double click larger end switch quickly to go directly to red mode, a nice feature in my opinion. Very well designed and executed overall."

STEVEN (5/5)

nice upgrade

"I like the upgrades on this i had the first one and still have the second version and the performance on the third is best of all. Love all the upgrades. I was worried about the buttons if it would be to small and there not unless your wearing thick gloves."

Nicholas S. (5/5)

great little light

"I'm a mobile bike mechanic. have two Fenix WT20R which i stick onto my truck body and use them on the flood beam. i , on an impulse, bought a HM61R and don't regret my decision at all. the highest setting beam is blinding and ideal for me when i work in extremely dark areas late into the night or pre-dawn, i also discovered it has a red beam which has a flashing red mode too. this is goood for events when i want riders to slow down. the rear battery door is magnetic too. its a great addition to my toolbox"

Aman A. (5/5)

I have owned the LD15R

"I have owned the LD15R twice, lost one loved it so much bought another,HM50Rv2, and the HM71r. I bought the 61r. v3 to complement the others. I found myself using all of them as right angle carry primarily except when i needed a headlamp. The HM61r v3 right angle was perfect for searching for spider mites on tropical plants, which is what ive been using the smaller ones for. It gives me longer runtime and the ability to slide in the headband. The new headbands are so much better being wider. Should have made that change along time ago. I wish older ones could be used in the same headband. It also makes the perfect mailbox flashlight with the ability go from low floodlight to bright spotlight for animals and brighter red light for cars passing by. Already pointed down when walking you can switch to red when cars come by. Also love the magnetic tail cap. My only issues are the battery rattle in the body that you don't hear in the other models when you tap it on the side or pick up. Also the proximity sensor doest work very well on soft surfaces like my bed which started smoking, which is what will burn, but it only works on reflective surfaces so its only useful to marketing. The dual button, although i like the ability, is not as easy to use as the 71 and is easy to miss press. I love the versatility that this model offers in the lineup and would definitely buy again!"

"Its a great light I’ve only use it one night add its worked into a spot on my vest"
