Caution*

!

*18350 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Using low-quality batteries or mishandling batteries (such as short-circuiting or overheating) could lead to combustion and jeopardize the safety of users and property. Any adverse effects resulting from the use of low-quality batteries are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability. Using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion.

*CR123A batteries should be reserved for emergency use only. Do not recharge while using a CR123A battery! Using a CR123A battery will reduce available output levels and shorten runtime. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the battery cover counterclockwise and insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.

Charging

  1. Uncover the anti-dust cap and plug the USB Type-C end of the charging cable into the charging port of the lamp.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.

  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust cover.

  4. With the lamp turned off, the normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery is approximately 2.5 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5 V/1 A or above charging adapter.

Note:

  • The headlamp can be operated while charging.
  • When the battery level is lower than 3.3 V, only the Low output of each mode and the Red flash output can be activated.
  • Recharge a stored headlamp every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.

*This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100P battery, a Fenix ARB-L16-800UP battery, or a Fenix ARB-L16-700UP battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The headlamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55°C/131°F or above, it will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the headlamp will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the lowest output is reached. When this happens in the lowest output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind users to recharge or replace the battery in a timely manner.

*This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100P battery, a Fenix ARB-L16-800UP battery, or a Fenix ARB-L16-700UP battery.

Headband Assembly

Notice: The headband is factory assembled and ready to use right out of the package.

Adjust the headband by sliding the buckle to the required length.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the lamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.

  • Take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.

  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the O-ring with an approved spare.

  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:

    A: Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

B: The contact or contact point of the battery or headlamp is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

  • Do NOT place this headlamp in the reach of children!

  • Do NOT shine the headlamp directly into the eyes of anyone!

  • Do NOT place light head near flammable objects, high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite!

  • Do NOT use the headlamp in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the headlamp or internal battery fails!

  • This headlamp will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the lamp shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns!

  • Remove the battery or unscrew the battery cover to prevent accidental activation when the headlamp is placed in a closed and flammable environment such as pockets and backpacks!

Fenix HM55R Rechargeable

"Excellent beam; lots of adjustment up or down but not too much as to be cluttered or complex. Quality construction, light weight, and strong features were the primary reason for choosing this model. The improved strap is fantastic; improved comfort and it keeps the light secure during active use. The battery life is great. The price is fair considering the quality."

Great lamp, too small a battery

"It's a great head lamp with excellent features and a comfortable size, but one major issue: Mine shuts down from turbo mode after 45 min to 1 hr already, and the other modes are too dim for working under cars, etc. in daylight. I wish this would come with a bigger battery. I bought it figuring the specs will suffice but the lamp is not achieivng its specs so often i have to switch mid-job to my trusty Coast lamp with a sufficient battery."

Genial y no pesa tanto

"Genial y no pesa tanto como otra Milwauke que tengo puede estar cargando y siempre enciende es buena en muchos aspectos lo mejor que eh tenido"

Yoni J. (5/5)

Best mix of floodlight and spot ever

"Excellent light in many ways: 1) The broad headband prevents up-and-down wobbling of the lamp body while running. The light beam stays steady. 2) Floodlight is uniformly bright. No hot spot, no vignetting in the corners. Pointing the beam ca. 5m ahead of you illuminates everything uniformly from 0. 5m to 10m. The eyes can relax and don't have to continuously adapt between a hot spot and a dark corner. Well done, Fenix. This is an excellent headlamp for hiking and running."

Klaus W. (5/5)

Best Headlamp

"Felix makes comparing lights easy and ordering is easy. Shipping was fast and the light was just as the rest of my Fenix lights, “GREAT” Small and light to carry but simple to operate. The number of intensity settings make this light wonderful for every use. Battery life is very good and as stated in specifications. I give all my Fenix lights a lot of abuse and they just keep going."

Dan W. (5/5)

Great if you don't need the red light.

"After loving my hm50 original for years I decided to upgrade to the hm55r in part because I do like using the red light feature on my cheap budget lamp and use it mostly to see around camp or if at home to check on livestock without waking them. However if you plan to do anything other than signal an ant crossing with this red light feature the HM55R is not your light. With regard to the normal white light this light is really great. I did try out the nitecore nu43 but was dissatisfied with the non-removable battery. I like being able to switch out batteries without removing the light from my head. It does take a bit of dexterity to do so but it is manageable with the HM55r. Couple things I would like to see improved: much brighter red light feature or perhaps several red light modes, improved battery door grip, more flexible plastic light holder (causes red mark on my forehead if not adjusted just right). Overall though I think this is the best light out there with a removable battery and two beam patterns. Just don't buy it for the red light feature."

Favorite things grab gift for Christmas!

"Powerful light! I also have the matching Nebula EDC because it's cute! Both lights allow me to see very far ahead at night when I'm walking my dog and everyone sees us too which is the biggest reason I bought it living in New Jersey. We have very little daylight after 4-5pm and we still have to walk our dogs. Love these lights so much I decided to add Fenix to my favorite things grab gifts in Christmas for my family."

Shirley (5/5)

Best flashlight brand out there

"Nice light, I like the settings. They are nice to have and easy to learn how to get the setting you want. Little bit heavy though you definitely don’t forget you have it on. Right before that line of getting tired of having it on too long."

John Z. (5/5)

Love this headlamp

"It works way better than any other headlamp I've ever owned. Certainly done buying cheap one after cheap one and will forever be a fenix customer."
