Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap and insert the battery following the polarity marks, then screw the cap back on.

Charging the BC26R

  1. Switch off the light and open the USB cap to reveal the USB Type-C charging port and plug the USB A socket of the charging cable into an electrical outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to tighten the light head to maintain the dustproof and waterproof ability.

Note:

  1. The normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L21-5000is approximately 4 hours from depletion to full charging.
  2. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.
  3. The Low output is available while charging, but the charging time will be prolonged.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21-5000 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Battery Level Indication

Each time the light is turned on, the indicator will indicate the battery level and will last for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: saturated 100% - 85%
  • Green light flashes: sufficient 85% - 50%
  • Red light on: poor 50% - 25%
  • Red light flashes: critical 25% - 1%

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used at relatively high modes for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user to reselect the modes.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the bicycle light is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the battery level indicator constantly blinks red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery. Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L21 series 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Usage and Maintenance for the BC26R Bike Light

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using only a high-quality protected battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery for proper storage.
  • Unscrew the tail cap or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light's performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.
B: The contact or contact point of the battery or bicycle light is dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

A: A Luminus SST40 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Fenix does not provide LED replacement services for the time being, and users are not recommended to replace the LEDs independently, which may affect product performance and cause product damage.

Q2. What is the color temperature of BC26R?

A: Around 6000K.

Q3. What is the working voltage of BC26R?

A: Voltage: 4.2V.

Q4. Is BC26R rechargeable? How long is the charging time?

A: BC26R is rechargeable with a USB Type-C charging port and the included 21700 battery. The charging time is about 4 hours. (The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.)

Q5. How to prevent accidentally activate the BC26R?

A: Unscrew the tail cap or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.

Q6. Why does the BC26R downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A: There are two reasons:

Q7. Why does the BC26R happen to flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the bicycle light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

A: Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

B: The contact or contact point of the battery or bicycle light is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

Q9. What are the optional accessories for BC26R?

A: ALD-08, ALD-10.

Q10. What should I do if the BC26R needs repair?

A: 1. 15-day replacement: Fenix will replace identical or equal products with documented manufacturing defects within 15 days of purchase.

2. 5-year free repair: Fenix will repair a light free of charge within 5 years (non-detachable light: 2 years, rechargeable battery and other accessories: 1 year) of purchase if problems develop with normal use.

3. Lifetime maintenance: If repair is required after 5 years from the date of purchase, Fenix will charge for parts. The total repair fee is dictated by the cost of the replaced materials.

Does not have a hole for a Lanyard

Three of my fellow friends and I bought four of these lights for bikepacking. We are competitive endurance athletes and spend days riding across various terrains. One battery lasted me three nights and my girlfriend 2.5 nights. The light fans out a good amount and is bright enough on lower settings to see the terrain well.

One major flaw we found is there is not a lanyard attachment hole, which other Fenix lights have. We almost lost one light racing the Maricopa Trail last weekend, which could be a dangerous situation when having limited food and water traveling long distances forced to wait out the evening to travel. I contacted Fenix asking for a battery end-cap with a lanyard hole or another solution. The response was brief "Sorry there is no battery cap with eyelet you requested." and no solution was offered or addressed. This could be an easy fix with a CNC machine. Hopefully they will come out with a solution to resolve this flaw. Until then, a zip tie and string may have to do. *This post puts me from Fort Worth but I'm from Prescott AZ

Hi Billy - please note that none of our bike lights have a lanyard, or the slots on the tail caps to attach a lanyard. I do not know of any tail caps for our flashlights that would properly fit on the BC26R so that it would have a slot for a lanyard. Even if any of them fit with the same diameter, the height of the tail cap would likely not match that of the BC26R, so unfortunately I'm not sure what solutions we have, although we can pass along this concern to the manufacturer.

Access Dubious
Poor Execution

*I've had the BC25R for a few years, and have left a review on its page*

I bought the BC26R because I was looking for a bike light that was brighter/lasted longer than my BC25R, and because I wanted a light that I could run continuously by swapping and re-charging batteries. However, I now wish that I had just purchased two more BC25Rs.

First, though the specifications boast of more lumens at a longer run time, It doesn't seem all that much brighter to me.

Second, I much prefer the color of the light from the BC25R. It feels more natural and less harsh. The BC26R is more blue, and the BC25R is more yellow.

Third, I have learned that I do really value the beam cut-off of the BC25R. I miss having it on the BC26R.

Fourth, I hate the battery status indicator. Typically a flashing light means that a battery is about to die, but the BC26R will flash green between 50 and 85%. It is misleading, and having a blinking light on the handlebars is distracting.

Fifth, the button is not well designed. It looks and feels nice, but the BC26R will accidentally turn on in my backpack much more easilly than the BC25R will, which negates the longer battery life. The light also gets quite hot at the higher settings, so this could cause some damage to other items.

Sixth, the dovetail in the aluminum body of the BC26R is much more slick than the dovetail in the plastic body of the BC25R. If the spring clip on the mount breaks (has happened to me), the BC25R has enough friction to hold on to the mount and continue working, but the BC26R does not, and will slide off easily.

I do appreciate the IP68 rating of the BC26R, but I have never had a problem with the weather resistance of the BC25R (IP66), and I use it all the time in all conditions, including pouring rain, snow, and slush. It mounts on a front rack a few inches above the front tire, so it gets a lot of exposure.

The ability to swap batteries is nice, but I would be fine with combining and rotating several BC25Rs, and I would appreciate the lighting qualities of that setup more.

If I could give a more precise rating, I would rate this light at two-and-a-half out of five stars.

Thank you for the feedback. We can pass this along to the manufacturer.

If you are regularly carrying the BC26R in a pack, I would suggest a slight turn to the tail cap, which will disengage the battery and it won't turn on when the button is depressed. As a bike light, it does not have a lock out feature on that button for carrying it in a pack or pocket.

Small but powerful light

Needed a light that lasted longer on my rides. It's a hefty, durable light. The mount is also very stable and keeps light on.

Small, light, solid and bright.

Bike lights in my mind are the waterbottle-sized batteries of the 90s like Cateye and NiteRider. I don't have high expectations for bike-specific lights, but I do love Fenix products, so I decided to take a flyers on the BC26R for my winter-daily fat bike. I also opted for the quick release GoPro adapter to mount it under my OutFront QuadLock phone mount, which is the hot ticket.

Turns out that all of my expectations for bike lights have been blown out of the water. Even on level 2 or 3, there is enough light to cruise trails in the dark, and on level 4 it feels like I could land aircraft safely. Holy crap is that bright.

Super high quality, lightweight build and easy to use even with thick winter ski gloves. I kinda want to buy another lamp for my helmet, but this one is SO strong, it's not needed to be on a trail in the dark at speed.

For those reviewers worried about the lack of blinky modes, remember, this is a HEADLIGHT and it's mostly for your vision, not for being spotted by others. Keep your blinkies for the tail light and worry about seeing where you are going. This one does all that and more. And, it's USB-C rechargeable, too, so no reason not to get one (other than OUT OF STOCK).

Buy one now.
