After a 3-minute work on Turbo, it will automatically downshift to High output level to reduce temperature. • Green light constant-on: saturated, more than 85%
  • Green light flashes: sufficient, 85%-50%
  • Red light constant-on: poor, 50%-25%
  • Red light flashes: critical, lower than 25%

Charging

  1. Plug the USB port of the charging cable into any USB power supply. Uncover the anti-dust cap and plug the Micro USB side of the charging cable into the charging port of the headlamp.
  2. If the battery level is fairly sufficient, the charging indicator displays green to indicate unnecessary charging. Or the charging indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged. The normal charging time of the built-in Fenix ARB-L18 2600 is approximately 3 hours from out of power to fully charged with the light off.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to remove the charging cable and replace the anti-dust cover.
  4. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery.
  5. The flashlight can only be used on Low output when charging, but the charging time will be prolonged.

Battery Replacement
Unscrew the tail cap to insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

 Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The batteries need replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s   specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warning
This flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the flashlight directly into anyone’s eyes.

I have a new light that the battery is already bad. We purchase a lot of these flashlights and it is disappointing that battery went bad in 1 month.

Excellent quality and build on this light. Lotsa light and a nicely configured beam profile. The on board USB charging is also a very nice feature. I bought this light in part because of it’s ability to tail stand, but I sure do miss a tail switch. It deserves 4.5/5, but alas no can do.

Only. been a few days but so far I really like it. Switch and modes take a bit of getting used to and doesn’t seem like it should be as complicated as it appears to be, but i guess there’s a learning curve

This model has the same impressive lighting capabilities as Fenix’s most popular tactical models, but without the tactical tail switch. Instead, one button on the side controls the On/Off as well as all of the brightness selections. I do not engage in any sort of tactical activities, nor do I have any reason or desire to hold a flashlight face-down in my fist, so I find the UC-30 to be the most capable and convenient model Fenix offers.

Hi Chris – I’ve sent you an email as it sounds like you might be having issues with warranty service from whatever retailer you purchased from? If it’s one of our retailers (we are US Wholesale Distributor, but a number of retailers work directly through factory), I will see what I can do for warranty.

I had this light until I lost it about a month ago. It was perfect for my work, so much so that I ordered another one after exhausting all possibility of finding it. This light was perfect for me to light up the inside of machines without having to go Turbo. Stood up where I needed it to and was small enough to not be in the way. I just need to take better care of it so that’s a user error! The ability to recharge it using a USB cord which I kept with me was an awesome capability for me since I travel to service equipment all over.

Well one of them was hijacked by my wife as her purse EDC, the other is in it’s intended spot. These are great lights, they do get hot on full beam after a minute or so, but I’m thinking that’s normal for a 1k Lumen light. First high power professional lights for us since my duty 6P from 1993.

Unfortunately the UC30 does not have the pocket clip – it is a feature on the UC35.

I purchased this light to replace a streamlight that a friend of mine lost. My co-worker suggested I look into fenix so I gave it a try. The light output is amazing. Probably the best of any flashlight I’ve owned. Unfortunately that is the only good thing about this light. The on/off switch also toggles between modes, inconvenient doesn’t even begin to describe it. The button is just shallow enough that in the dark you struggle to find it. When you eventually find it you have to hold it down to turn the light on, but not too long because it will go into strobe mode and give yourself a seizure. The light tends to turn on in your pocket which either burns you or kills your battery. I usually quarter turn the end cap to avoid this but that adds to the time spent trying to turn it on in the dark. Going between light outputs is easy once you locate the button but getting there isn’t easy. I’ve tried so hard to like this light but it’s the most inconvienient light I’ve ever owned. Please fenix fix these issues.

James – the one side switch is a feature of the UC30 – it does have a lock out feature which will prevent it from turning on in your pocket, but overall you may prefer a light with a tail switch, like the UC35, for a pocket carry.

  22. Steve (verified owner)

Don’t like having to press & hold button to activate light. Nylon holster is not great. Otherwise I like the UC30 just fine. Ordering was easy, delivery fast.

A long time owner of Fenix lights, I found this one to be less than stellar. The XPG emitter is great, the form factor is nice like all Fenix lights, digital controls great, low battery indicator is great, run times typical. What I didn’t like were the side button…not that its a side button, but that in the dark its near impossible to find it in a decent amount of time. And if you’ve just woken up, good luck finding it any time soon. Being encased with some anti-roll knurling or raised edges would be a smart design. An orange peel reflector would have been a better option than the smooth reflector which produces typical rings instead of a nice flood. Little lights like this should not be throwers but flooders first. Still an outstanding light like all Fenix lights, but this one is just too hard to find the button by feel.

I have gone thru many FLs. I called the company and a person in warranty answered. I asked him for guidance for a simple FL to use. Knowing it wasn’t a warranty issue he still helped by guiding me to this UC30. I really do like the simplicity of it. Wish it came with a clip is my only suggestion. Fenix hires good and helpful people that go beyond their normal job responsibilities and that is awesome …Thanks Fenix for producing a high powered, but simple to use product.

I dont understand why people are complaining about this torch turning on whilst in their pocket/holster? That is what the lockout feature is for, you have to rapidly double click the button then the torch flashes twice to let you know its locked. Repeat the process to unlock, i can’t see how it would be possible to double click the small button so fast that it unlocks the flashlight when its on your belt/in your pocket. I love this torch, incredible brightness and throw for such a compact size, excellent Fenix build quality plus its rechargeable.. all my friends who have seen it are amazed at how bright it is.. bargain for the price! Highly recommend it.

Brightly illuminates my backyard when I go out to check at night. Bright, portable and handy flashlight. Five levels of brightness plus strobe are good options for brightness or battery power for longer lighting depending on the requirement of job at hand.

Love the rechargeable feature but that’s it. The switch does not work reliably. Sometimes it would cycle on its own. Other times switch is stuck in one mode no matter how many times you hit the switch. Really disappointing since I have other Fenix flashlights and never had any issues with them.

The flashlight is awesome, but the holster is very cheap and it broke on my first of work. I am a disappointed that I now have to carry the flashlight in my pants pocket and that it may break if I have to work on the ground. Flashlight is 10/10.

We have the 2017 Upgrade unit & a pre upgrade unit (which led me to by the post 2017). Carry it with me all of the time & find it’s a well built unit. But, like other Fenix lights that I own, this one & the older UC30 have come on in their respective holsters & melted the bottom of the holster in the daily use one.. Felt my side getting very warm while sitting at a stoplight & quickly turned it off. Have also had people comment to me on a couple of occasions that my light was on, even though my jacket was covering it. Needs a better, more positive switch. Aside from that , I would purchase again. A quality product for the money (including the exchange on the US & Canadian dollar). No charging issues that I’ve experienced to this point. 5 stars if the switch was better.

In 2016, I purchased the Fenix UC30 with the intention of keeping it in my vehicle for occasional use (once a month). So far, I have found that the battery charge drains quickly. In addition, should the USB cable with the prong seated inside the port experience the slightest rotational shift in the cord position the charging process ceases . This occurs whether I’ve attached the charging cable in either my vehicle, computer or spare-battery USB port.

Im a owner of Fenix 30 and I do agree with” tom” about the accidental “onturning” which causes a lot of heat ,enough to make the holster become almost melting.
Would like to have a onoff button on the end of the torch.
Part from that,by far the best torch I have ever owned!

Great quality light. Horrendously poor light selection. Turns on in pocket and dies way too often. Even went in the holster this can’t happen. If they would have added a tail switch this would have not been an issue. Would send mine back if I could.

Id like to point out i have the UC30 before the revised one and heed the warning.

Will working i was unaware of the flash light being turned on from my body hitting it as i moved around while in the case that was supplied with the flash light. After a unknown amount of time i was wondering why my hip was warm turns out the flashlight was on and melted the hell out of the top of holder. Not cool Fenix may want to look into using something other then cheap nylon for a holder. Im glad I caught it when i did who knows what may have happened. But the light works tho no it stay in a glove box as I cant trust the light not to be bumped and turn on by itself.

Fenix UC30 came in the mail today.
Initial impressions: Very well made like all Fenix products. What I like and why I bought the Uc30 is that you can recharge it with a usb cable.
In the box it brings a spare o-ring, a nice thick charging cable (which is great to keep in the car), carrying pouch, and two extra usb port covers. Easy to use and it turns from red to green when charged and includes an 18650 battery. Overall great value.

As a Home Inspector, I use a Fenix TK35 Flashlight and Headlamp on a daily basis. I would use the TK35 for my night time dog walks. I live on the border of a County Park and we have a lot of wild life in the area including Coyotes, possums, armadillos, and the occasional lose dog. I would use the TK35 to make sure the walk went safe.

I purchased the UC30 as smaller alternative and for the convenience of the USB charging feature. As well as allowing me to keep the TK35 in my inspection tool bag at all times. No need to remember to pack it in the morning.

This is a great alternative. It is smaller and still gives me the lighting power to check out areas while walking the dog. I have not yet run the battery down, and charge in once a every week or two.

    Great Value and easy operation

Bought the UC40 flashlight in January 2015 and it’s only just died now, so I’m deciding whether to get the lighter weight RC11 (as I put the torch in my mouth, being a mechanic needing both hands at times) or the similar UC30. Overall very happy with the UC40, only minor issues is the weight for when it’s in my mouth and the charging port began playing up a bit, probably because I didn’t faithfully fit the dust boot back after charging each time.

Michael, thank you for the feedback. The RC11 would give you a magnet on the back so you could have it hang on the hood of a car or something similar. The RC05 or RC09 would also work great for you!

I bought my UC 35 960 lumen model about 4 months ago. I thought I should use it a little & get used to it before writing a review.

    Its good, very good!

I’m very happy with it & would recommend it to those I know who do everything from wilderness camping to caving & fire/rescue.

The modes are well thought out, you don’t always need a blinding 960 lumens, sometimes (such as when backwoods camping for a couple of weeks where there is no place to recharge it) long battery life is more important than awesome power. The lower powered 50 lumen setting is plenty bright for many things & life extends from 1h 30 Min in “TURBO” to a respectable 38H, plenty for a camping trip.

The ability to use both the 18650 rechargeable battery & non rechargeable 2X CR123A as a backup is handy.

Its well made and seems very strong. Its size is not much bigger than the AA MagLite its replacing, & it even takes AA accessories like fiber optics & filters! Although I’d hesitate to use them in high powered modes because of the need to cool the head.

I like the luminescent mode switch cover, which is great in real darkness & the fact it lights up to tell you the battery are low enough to need recharging! It also tells you when its fully charged.

I went with 4 stars instead of 5 for 2 (minor) reasons.

The Micro USB is covered by a really flimsy rubber “cover” that seems like a gimmick, even though the waterproof rating is without the cover.

The lamp can’t be focused as many can, but the single beam is well designed has few hot-spots & no bright circles.

Would I buy another one? YES!

I’ve had this light for at least a year and it’s one of the best rechargeable lights I’ve ever owned. It holds a charge for quite a long time. Mine was in my backpack for several months without being used or charged and when I got it out, it was still charged and super bright and ran for quite a while before needing to be charged. I own about 10-12 different Fenix handheld LED flashlights and they are all great quality and very dependable and ready when needed. I usually buy two or three new Fenix brand flashlights every year and have always been pleased with their products.

This is a great light for my bike and all round use! The beam pattern is great for the bike and medium power is plenty. The bike mount fits lots of handlebar sizes and has a quick release but I wish the nuts were captured so as not to get lost.

Last year I got the UC40UE for Christmas. This year I got the UC30. This one is basically the same flashlight as the 40. There are minor differences, including a shorter length, a very slightly shorter runtime, afferent charge point, and a glow in the dark switch. Its also a fantastic light, and maybe a better choice than the 40. Seeing as how the runtime is so slightly shorter, it doesn’t matter. I like the GITD switch, as the non GITD switch on the 40 is kind of hard to find in the dark.
I do like the tail cap charge point on the 40 better, this one charges from the side.

As with the 40, my only real gripe is the extremely low-profile switch. They should make it bigger, so it can easily be felt, even through gloves.

Either way, I’d definitely recommend it!

Although it’s approx. 5in the flashlight fits perfectly in any pocket and comes with a high quality holster for visible carry and convenience. The Fenix user interface for the light is the biggest thing that I personally like. Switching from a dim 10 lumens to 110 to 400 to 960 and 960 strobe is easily done. Charging the light with a micro usb instead of switching batteries is also a big plus. I use this for everyday carry and I couldn’t be happier. Oh and yes it will completely disorient someone (night or day) if not temporarily blind someone. In a city like NYC, where everything to defend yourself is illegal, this light helps to provide some protection while abiding by state/city laws.
