Operation Instruction

The tail cap switch is the power switch (ON/OFF) and the side button switch is the mode switch.

Tap the power switch to momentarily turn on the light, release the power switch and the light will go out. Fully press the power switch to turn on the light and lock it, another press to unlock and turn it off.

Output Selection

When the light is on, single-click the mode switch to cycle through Low→Mid→High→Turbo.

Press and hold the mode switch for about 0.5 seconds to enter Strobe, single-click the mode switch to return back to General Mode.

Intelligent Memory Circuit

The flashlight memorizes the last-used brightness level in the General Mode, the next time it is turned on, it will recall that previously used General brightness level.

Over-heat Protection

When uses 14500 rechargeable Li-ion battery, the light will automatically downshift to 150 lumens from Turbo after working 5 minutes to prevent the light surface from overheating.

Low-voltage Reminder

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until to Low output. When this happens in Low output mode, the flashlight blinks three times every five minutes to remind you to charge the light or replace the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery runs out completely or the over-discharge protection stops the battery from working.

  1. Each time the light is turned on, it will automatically check present battery voltage and determine corresponding circuit operating mode.
  2. The low-voltage reminder only works on 14500 rechargeable Li-ion battery.
  3. For handy operation, the light will automatically downshift the output level in cycle when the battery level is poor.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light head to insert the battery with the anode side (+) toward the light’s head, then screw the light head back on.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using excellent quality battery. If the flashlight will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the flashlight could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Unscrew the light body one-half turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the flashlight’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the flashlight to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
Reason A: The batteries need replacing.
Solution: Replace batteries (Please confirm the correct installation of anode and cathode).
Reason B: The threads, PCB boards contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please refer to the warranty policy before contacting your authorized distributor.

The flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the light directly into anyone’s eyes.

Very good light, small size and very easy to find AA batteries in any market, my favorite light, 100% perfect, I used it for 24 days in the Brazilian Amazon and I had no problem.

  4. Michael M. (verified owner)

Phenomenal light. My primary reason for choosing this light is that it is powered by one AA battery. I’m most impressed by the performance and ease of use.

  5. Phil Carson

Received this light as a gift, so this is my 2nd review because I bought one last year for use as a weapon light, with the latest model remote switch. This gift is on a weapon also. The first PD32 is used nightly on my farm, as a pest and predator control firearm light, I carry it no matter what employing it to scan the farm yard, it is the perfect light far as I’m concerned. Running the USB rechargeable 3400 1860 battery. Give it a charge once a week, seems like it keeps it’s power very well, as it has never taken more than 20 minutes to charge.
It is a great thing to have such a reliable product, and the various outputs are the bee’s knee’s. The highest output is stunning at night in total darkness, nothing escapes my observation, and I have run off countless critters sneaking around trying to get at my livestock. The highest intensity setting reflects back from their eyes so well I can tell the color, hence what kind of animals are out there. I think the light has decreased their tendency to try anything, spooks them or something, I haven’t had one chicken or piglet killed since I began using the first PD32. This has saved me a lot of money, and bullets, and trouble.
    Excellent flashlight. 6 Stars.

Perfect for what I need it for to do my job on the flight deck!

Fits perfectly in my back pocket so I can carry it everywhere.

High quality flashlight (so far). It has 4 light levels, with a push-button switch near the front of the light. The on/off switch is the traditional push-button on the rear. I don’t think this is a good arrangement. If you hold the flashlight in one hand, it is very awkward to get your fingers into position to change light levels. I would give it 3.5 stars based on the ergomonics. Always save your reciept/proof of purchase for warranty issues with Fenix! They will not deal with you if you don’t have it.

    • Dianne

This is not true about the receipt – we can tell by the serial number of the light that we are the distributor. This may be the case when purchasing from a retailer and returning to them, but not from us directly on our website.

Let’s start off quick and easy for those who don’t want to read the review. BUY IT!! Don’t think about it, just BUY IT!!

OK, I have owned and carried an LD12 for over 5 years now. It is ALWAYS with me.
It is light enough that if you already carry a light or other EDC gear you will not notice this at all or maybe even lighten your load as this little bugger is a great weight and size combination.
This light won’t let you down. waterproofing is perfect as I have dropped it in a stream multiple times and it’s still running strong.
Mine has lots of wear marks on it, which for some people is a badge of honor. To me it’s a testament to what this light has been through and shows how well Fenix did.
This light is the perfect size IMO.
IF this light ever decides to give up I will buy another one without even a second thought.
I have no cons for this light, unless someone else can point me to a lighter design that uses a common AA with the same features.

One of the few flashlights to accept both standard non-rechargeable AA Alkaline batteries as well as rechargeable 14500 Li-ion batteries. Most convenient.

    Awesome flashlight

  12. Abe (verified owner)

Good little light. Only minor point was the grip texture was abrading my pants pocket but a few minutes with a metal file to smooth out a strip under the pocket clip fixed that problem. Otherwise it works great and is super bright for its size.

  13. Sergio P. (verified owner)

Nice flash light its portable not heavy perfect

  14. Steve S. (verified owner)

The LD12 is a versatile and well-designed flashlight. The selection of a neutral colored LED enhances object and color recognition. The beam is the right balance of flood and projection attributes. The silent, momentary-on button bolsters the functionality. The dual power (14500 3.6V or AA) is an advantageous feature providing high lumens with the 14500 and the piece of mind knowing that a standard AA battery can be used as a backup. Better indexing to make locating the front switch a no-look operation and a steel front bezel would make this light perfect.

  15. Christian (verified owner)

My Absolute Favorite Light! Love the flexibility of being able to use a AA battery just in case.

  16. Eric (verified owner)

Great little light, perfect for EDC pocket carry.

  17. Scott (verified owner)

Best size, battery size, function and defensive bezel for pocket and car quick-light.

  18. Dakota (verified owner)

Awesome little EDC light. If you’re looking for an all in one however, this is not the brightest.

  19. David

The perfect blend of size, power and efficiency. Hands down the best EDC flash light on the market. I never leave home without it. Highly recommended!

  20. Virgilio (verified owner)

Easily outshined with longer runtime my other 1xAA flashlights. Brighter than my old 2xAA LED flashlight. The three levels of brightness and strobe provides user control on the amount of light appropriate to a situation.

  21. Anonymous (verified owner)

Fine flashlight, seems pretty bright. Nice that it is dual powered (AA and 14500).

  22. Karl Crowe (verified owner)

    Great light. Good beam

  23. Anonymous (verified owner)

This has become my everyday carry, fantastic light!

  24. Steve B. (verified owner)

This is an awesome little light. Super bright, easy to use.

  25. MICHAEL (verified owner)

I work construction and this is my EDC. Carry it in a holster and like the compact size. The level of light output is crazy, close to the 18650 lights. When i need it to perform it never fails, and has helped me get jobs done in tight dark places. Tail cap switch and side switch are a great combo. Only drawback is the battery life is a little short on high. For a EDC, this is the one.

  26. Tim G.

Take it from a guy who’s hard on his gear: this is the EDC light you need. I have the original (~120 lumen max), for 4 years now. I take it wade-fishing in salt-water, hunting, EDC/365 in my profession as a military engineer and it’s never let me down. I’m constantly in dark mechanical rooms, getting calls for late night hazmat spills, etc – this light goes with me everywhere. The combination of super-dim to super-bright, rock solid waterproofing, unbreakable/droppable design and the convenience of AA batteries and a reversible belt clip for hat-brim attachment makes it simply a do-everything light. I have brighter lights and more expensive lights, but this is the one light that’ll do everything and comes everywhere with me. I’m so sold that I buy this light as a departing gift for my junior officers in my command.

  27. Nadine

Is says 350 lum max. 😮 I get a lot of more light out of this one than the FD 20 that is also 350 lum max. This is really a powerbomb !! Very happy with it. It runs with the 14500.

  28. Phil

Pound for pound, dollar for dollar. This is one of if not the best pocket flashlight on the market today. I have had many folks ask me what light I am using when we are poking around in the server rooms. Once they get their hands on it they don’t want to give it back! Light, power efficient, dependable, and bright!

  29. Ari

I just got this to replace my LD10 and absolutely love it. It’s small enough to be in my front pocket every day and super bright in turbo mode.

  30. Mike Sortor

***** Great flashlight ! I purchased LD12 for my 13 year old daughter who was spending a lot of time in the morning at a dark bus stop. It gave her a sense of security and taught her a little bit of responsibility. she doesn’t go anywhere without it now. Not a single problem with it in a year

  31. Edward

I’ve had my LD12 for a while now, and I love its size and features. The fact that it uses readily available AA batteries is a plus, and it’s a perfect EDC flashlight. Well done, Fenix!

  32. morgan walker

This is my favorite flashlight I have ever owned, by a landslide. I have 2 other fenix lights, several surefires, and of course multiple other cheap LED lights. From a single AA, you can’t beat it. If I could change one thing about this light, it would be to make the tail cap button more recessed in order to do a more stable tail stand.

  33. Dan

Purchased to try out as an EDC light and absolutely loved it. Excellent size and form factor and tremendous battery life from a single AA. I have carried the light every day for over a year, dropped it several times and it is still going strong. After my experience with this light I ended up ordering two more as well as a few different Fenix models.

  34. Andre

Excellent EDC light! Small, compact and powerful, with nicely-spaced brightness levels and good run-times. All with a single AA battery!

  35. Jim Street

I have had this light for a little over a year and I love it. It is my second light from Fenix and I couldn’t give it a higher recommendation. It offers dim light when you need it or bright light if you need it. I have been carrying my LD12 everyday for about a year and it has been dropped a few times and still looks brand new. I have tested a lot of different flashlights for general every day carry / general utility light and the LD12 is currently my number one choice. Durable, dim, bright, good battery life, great light!
Thank you for your time and good luck on your future purchase!

A Happy Fenix Owner and Flashaholic 🙂

  36. John K

Use as a carry light. The runtime is very good. The selectable power setting are very usefull. Light is well built. Surprised how bright the turbo mode is. Generally use in low setting. The small size is nice. Bought one for my son he loves it too, said he was surprise how powerful it was. Good choice for a small carry light.
