ON/OFF
Fully press the tail switch of the penlight to turn on/off the light.
Output Selection
With the penlight switched on, tap the tail switch to cycle through Low→Med→High→UV.
Battery Replacement
Unscrew the head to insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light head back on.
Intelligent Memory Circuit
The light memorizes the last selected brightness level. When turned on again the previously used brightness level will be recalled.
Time-limited Downshift
The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on High output level for extended periods. When the light has been used on High for 3 minutes, the light will automatically step down by a few lumens until 60 lumens is reached to reduce the temperature. High mode can be reselected.
Usage and Maintenance
- Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
- Fenix recommends using excellent quality batteries.
- Fenix strongly recommends using high-performance Ni-MH rechargeable batteries to get the most out of this light. Alkaline batteries will reduce the runtime relatively.
- If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
- Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
- Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.
If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Dinged one point for lack of protection from being switched on accidently. Overall, the combination of while light for general utility in dark hallways or rooms is nice and the UV is awesome for spotting Scorpions! I don’t really need to inspect for ‘body fluids’ but, could see that feature being useful for someone who travels a lot and stays in random Interstate highway motels.

I use this often for looking at fine detail in mechanical or electrical things I’m working on. It’s really useful to have the low-intensity setting in some situations, and the warm color temperature is easy on the eyes. That said, I consider this useless as shipped. The flashlight turns on in your pocket or if the button is brushed, discharging the battery, and eventually you pull it out and find that it’s dead. A crown around a rear button is completely standard and it doesn’t make any sense that this feature wasn’t designed into the light. Because I had access to a lathe I could make a metal crown around the back button, thus the two stars, but if I had to use this as shipped it would have been returned or blindly chucked away in frustration. Would be 4-5 stars if it shipped with a crown around that back button. If your use involves the light being in a breast pocket or otherwise in positions where the button doesn’t get accidentally depressed, this light will probably work great for you. UV is dim but for checking IDs or specific use at its wavelets etc probably works just fine.
