*18650 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion but cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the battery cover and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the battery cover back on.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the indicator blinks red to remind you to recharge the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery level runs out.

Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo for extended periods. To ensure safe use, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature is reduced, Turbo mode can be reselected.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Recharge the light timely when the battery level is critical, for future use.
  • Recharge a stored light every three months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • The light will accumulate a lot of heat when working on Turbo mode. Do not touch the heat dissipation fins.
  • Remove the battery if the light will not be used for a long time.
  • Once charging is completed, be sure to remove the charging cable and replace the dust cover.

Warning

Only company that makes a bike light with a removable battery that I can find. I can do big adventures and just carry a couple extra batteries. The light won’t be trash in 2 years when the battery is worn out like other lights. Like all fenix lights, the LED is a good quality. Nice white light. Simple to use. And it’s USB-C! Micro usb is the absolute worst.

This is the best mountain bike light I have ever used. Here are the features I love that I can’t find in other lights. The lens is shaped so the beam starts at my front tire and gets progressively wider up to the horizon line. It stops there so as not to blind other bikers or cars coming in the opposite direction. The 18650 battery is interchangeable with my Fenix hand torch and head lamp so I only have to carry one spare battery for long adventures / Adventure Races. Since the battery is interchangeable, I can quickly replace it at a transition area instead of having to recharge. It also pops off the bike and can be used as a hand torch if needed. You can get multiple powers of the 18650 battery but if you use this light on its low or medium setting, it will easily go all night long. Match this up with one of the Fenix headlamps and you have the perfect lighting system for Mountain Biking on even the most gnarly terrain.

It’s great that the BC21Rv2 supports USB-C and a standard 18650 which the bike industry is slow to move to. Color temp and no flicker are good. Wish the mount was less fussy and supported mounting below the bar, but that’s easily resolved with a TwoFish LockBlocks or similar. The glare cutoff optic is a bit overhyped and underwhelming, but that’s the case with all bike lights so far.

The light itself has minor improvements on the model it replaces in the lineup; like its predecessor, it is a superb light in brightness, beam pattern, battery life, and ease of use. The big improvement is the mount, which replaces the widely criticized silicone ladder with a properly designed clamp. Highly recommended.

Although, this light will not get it full capability until I start a few nights cycling in new Zealand next week, the light is bright and I like the idea of rechargeable batteries. Easy to recharge and I like the holder. One night I will be cycling all night and will need this light with an additional battery I purchased and I also bought the Lezyne Zacto Drive lights, just in case. You can never have too little lights on a bike.

I was pleasantly surprised by this light. I did a side-by-side comparison with my existing bike lights and realized that they put a lot more thought into this than I was expecting. The light beam is shaped specifically for biking so you can see everything from your front tire all the way out too far in front of you but there’s not much light bleeding over to the sides or above so other bikers or cars don’t get blinded. It also has a removable rechargeable battery that matches many of the other headlamps and hand torches so it’s easy to enter change them if needed or carry one backup for all of your lights. The mount that comes with it is also very adaptable to different handlebar configurations whether it the wide, small or tapered. I can even be angled to the left or right slightly to accommodate bars that are angled a little backwards.
