Fenix TK16 V2.0 Review

Ambassador David H.

The Fenix TK16 V2.0 is my 7th Fenix light in my arsenal, and by far my favorite so far. Though on the larger side, it is my new EDC. My work requires a flashlight in a variety of environments, including a mix of indoor and outdoor. My previous EDC was a PD35-TAC, which is very similar in form factor, but the 3100 Lumens and rear operated controls that the TK16 offer made it an easy decision to make the switch.

My favorite features are the tail switch controls, high lumen output, and battery life. With my PD35 TAC, I always had issues finding the brightness control button. Moving this button right next to the main tail switch makes it extremely easy to change the brightness. Also, the 3100 Lumens make this great for use in open, outdoor environments. The light spill seems similar to the PD35 which I believe is a good balance between spill and spot. Lastly, the new 5000mAh 21700 battery is a great improvement over the 18650’s when it comes to output and battery life. The USB-C charging port is also appreciated as most electronics are moving away from micro-USB.

Overall, I believe the TK16 V2.0 will make a great EDC flashlight, as long as you are OK with the size and weight. I’m sure it would make an even better tactical or emergency services flashlight with the glass breaking tips.
