*18350 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Using low-quality batteries or mishandling batteries (such as short-circuiting or overheating) could lead to combustion and jeopardize the safety of users and property. Any adverse effects resulting from the use of low-quality batteries are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability. Using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion.
*CR123A batteries should be reserved for emergency use only. Do not charge while using CR123A batteries! Using CR123A batteries will reduce available output levels and shorten runtime. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.

Battery Replacement
Unscrew the battery cover counterclockwise and insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.

Charging

  1. Open the anti-dust plug and connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the charging port of the headlamp.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust plug.
  4. With the lamp turned off, the normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery is approximately 2.5 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5 V/1 A or above charging adapter.
    Note:
    • The headlamp can be operated while charging.
    • When the voltage level is lower than 3.3 V, only the Low output of each mode and the Flash output can be activated*.
    • Recharge a stored headlamp every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.
*This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.
  5. Power specifications:
    • Charging voltage: 5 V
    • Charging power: 5 W
    • This headlamp does not support fast charging.
    • Only use a certified USB charging adapter that complies with the government safety standards of the country or region where this product is sold.

Battery Level Indication
With the lamp turned off, single click the switch to check the current battery level and the battery level indicator will last for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: saturated 100% - 80%
  • Green light flashes: sufficient 80% - 50%
  • Red light on: poor 50% - 20%
  • Red light flashes: critical 20% - 0%

*This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection
The headlamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55°C/131°F or above, it will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the headlamp will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-voltage Warning
When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the lowest output is reached. When this happens in the lowest output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind users to recharge or replace the battery in a timely manner.
*This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.

Headband Assembly
Notice: The headband is factory assembled and ready to use right out of the package.
Adjust the headband by sliding the buckle to the required length.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the headlamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the headlamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the O-ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the headlamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the headlamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.
B: The contact or contact point of the battery or headlamp is dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

Warning

  • Do NOT place this headlamp in the reach of children!
  • Do NOT shine this headlamp directly into the eyes of anyone!
  • Do NOT place light head near flammable objects, high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite!
  • Do NOT use this headlamp in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the headlamp or internal battery fails!
  • This headlamp will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the lamp shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns!
  • Remove the battery or unscrew the battery cover to prevent accidental activation when the headlamp is placed in a closed and flammable environment such as pockets and backpacks!
  • The LEDs of this headlamp are not replaceable; so the whole lamp will need to be replaced if any one of the LEDs reaches the end of its lifespan.

My Most needed light

"Back in the day, I used a Moon-light (Army angle light). Today I use the Fenix angle light in a tiny body. I can attach it to my Roto-Rooter machine with its tail cap magnet. I like the fact that if my battery dies on the job I can attach my USB-C cable to my portable 5K phone charger to it and it works with or without the included battery inside. This light has come in handy away from the job by sticking it under the medicine cabinet to take a quick shower when the electricity goes out. A lot of my work is in low lit basements, my grandson thinks Pink Hearts, Yellow Moons, or some fluorescent Orange Stars, would keep me from loosing it 🤔. We decided on a glow hexagon…for now."

Fenix HM53R

"Its the perfect balance between the hm50r v2 and the hm61r v3. It has what the hm50r v2 is missing. A low level white and red led around 5 lumens when you only want light at arms length but dont want to disturb your vision beyond. I use it as both a 90 deg light and a headlamp. I love having both flood and spot options on the larger hm61 v3 but sometimes you need a smaller light. All 3 work great!"

Jeffrey C. (5/5)

Fantastic

"Super compact and powerful light. We have several of the HM50R V2. 0 and this one is barely bigger but with a larger capacity battery."

Great light!

"The headlamp is simple to operate in white or in red light, and recharges through USB-C which has become quite common in the last few years. I like the several features that are detailed on the website. I'm delighted with it!"

Adam S. (5/5)
