My wife and I do a lot of metal detecting on Florida's beaches. I looked at many headlamps before purchasing two of these for us. They are perfect for night detecting. The controls are very easy to find in the dark. In spotlight mode they provide a focused beam that lights up your target area without illuminating the whole beach. Being able to change intensity by simply pressing the general button is a great feature. We find that "Eco" or "Low" provides ample lighting for our needs. The battery life is excellent. We have detected for 8 hours at a time and the battery level indicators have seldom gone below 2 bars. Recharge time is only about an hour with one or two indicators displayed. I would highly recommend this headlamp.

I've loved nearly everything about this headlamp. Battery life is pretty awesome, it's light and small, recharges relatively quickly and the cost is very competitive. The only downside at all is 2x it's randomly gone into strobe mode and I couldn't get it to stop. Plugging it in to a battery/power source will reset it, it seems. 100% would but it again. Every Fenix product I've had was a favorite.

It works great. I wish it had a red light as I bought it for backpacking.

Great reliable, robust light! These headlamps from mil/tac oriented companies are better (more robust with easy to use UI) than headlamps from the outdoor rec companies. They're more solidly constructed. The machined zoom bezel is super smooth with nice damping and has stayed that way after lots of winter ski and desert camping use. It is so convenient to be able to recharge using the ubiquitous micro usb. I use this light for night XC skiing & camping/backpacking.

Pros) Very bright fully adjustable light, comfortable, recharging by auxiliary battery. Cons) buttons are easy to turn on accidentally in your pack and drain the battery. I purchased 4 of these headlamps and I have had issues with 2 of them getting stuck in strobe mode with almost full charge. I fixed this by plugging into a charger for 30sec. Afterward had full functionality back. But still very annoying!
