* 16340 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only use quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; but cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement
Unscrew the light tail and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light tail back on.

  1. First switch off the light and plug the USB A socket of the charging cable into an electrical outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.
  2. The indicator will blink red while charging, and will turn green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to close the anti-dust cover to maintain the dustproof and waterproof ability.

  1. The normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L16-700P rechargeable Li-ion battery is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from depletion to full charging.
  2. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery.

Battery Level Indication
Each time the light is turned on, the indicator will indicate the battery level and will last for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: saturated 100% – 85%
  • Green light flashes: sufficient 85% – 50%
  • Red light on: poor 50% – 25%
  • Red light flashes: critical 25% – 1%

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L16-700P 16340 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection
The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on relatively high modes for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of high modes.

Low-voltage Warning
When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Moonlight mode is reached. When this happens in Moonlight mode, the light constantly blinks red to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-L16-700P 16340 rechargeable Li-ion battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lock the light or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
A: The battery needs recharging or replacing.
Solution: Replace/recharge the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Great garbage

My review is honest and with well used experience. This isn't my first Fenix light, i own several and do give them as gift every so often. I really like their products, but this button sucks, not even putting the clip over the button works. When the flashlight is in your pocket with the clip over the button it still turns on. The clip is over the button in your purse a coin or anything else that fits between the clip and button and it will turn it on. Speaking from experience. This is dangerous in both scenarios because it's a fire hazard. It's happen to me with several clothing materials. THE BUTTON SUCKS AND ITS NEED TO BE IMPROVED. Fenix the solution isn't to unscrew your flashlight just a little, that's ridiculous. The solutions is make a better system, people are will to pay for a good product. Besides the button, this is an awesome flashlight. I will review my other flash as do have a favorite one.

The light does have a lockout function on it as well:

With the light switched off, double click the side switch the light flashes twice and enters lockout mode, double click the side switch again to unlock the light.

Good … but improvements can still be made on important issues

On the very positive side the light is bright and feels very good in hand. On the negative side the lockout lock/unlock functions allows the light to turn on accidentally too easily. I had the light in my backpack and in my pocket and it has turned on 3+ times accidentally without my knowledge just by rubbing into other things in my pocket/backpack. This resulted in run-down of the battery and I imagine could possibly even lead to the light over-heating or potentially worse than that.

Another company has a better (imho) mechanism for locking out the light where the user hits the on-off button for like 16 seconds to put it into ‘locked-off’ mode. It works better because it’s harder for the light to have the on-off button continuously activated for 5 seconds accidentally. Then the user holds the on button for 5 seconds to turn it back on.

Another, very simple option for the E18R V2, of the button is getting double clicked somehow in a backpack, is to rotate the clip to cover the button. Or, a very small turn of the head will disable the battery and keep it from engaging too. In the event of an emergency, even 5 seconds to unlock a light is quite a long time, thus the reason we have the quick double click.

Almost, Not Quite

Great flashlight! Horrible font makes the manual useless. Why not put the manual on line and offer--with a large font--the link? Also, the design mandates locking it all the time. Not quite right in a purse without locking. Who needs a pulsing purse?

Hi Paula - we do have the Operating Instructions online, on the product page. If you look below the specs on the light and above the product video, you will see two sections that can be expanded - one is the Operating Instructions and the other is the Compatible Accessories tab.

If you don't want to use the lockout feature on the light, you can rotate the pocket clip and it covers the button so that it doesn't turn on. I'm not quite sure why the light would pulse in the purse though if it's not locked out, as the lights don't pulse, unless you are talking about it going through all modes and then being on strobe mode?

Very small flashlight

Very nice tiny flashlight for your pocket. Very bright on the bright setting, if you carry it in your pocket you really need to turn the clip around where it's over the button that you turn it on with, that way it won't come on while it's in your pocket everytime! I would buy it again but it's really too small. it holds a charge for a good while, Good flashlight for the money!!!

Using the clip over the button is always a great idea to prevent accidental activation. You can also engage the lock function:

With the light switched off, double click the side switch the light flashes twice and enters lockout mode, double click the side switch again to unlock the light.

Personally I think the lock out AND putting the clip over it is great security to make sure it doesn't turn on!
