Low-voltage Warning

The functional switch will flash red to remind to replace the batteries when the voltage level drops below a preset level. The bicycle light is programmed to step down a few lumens to prolong the runtime and the light will not turn off automatically.

Note: This may not work if 4*CR123A batteries are being used.

Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when working on High mode for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 65°C, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. High mode can be reselected if needed. This is a very bright bike light.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Replace the battery in time to ensure normal use for next time.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.

Warning

  1. This light is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing severe eye damage. Avoid shining the light directly into anyone’s eyes.
  2. This light will accumulate a lot of heat when used for extended periods, resulting in high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding.

good bright light

I ride several days a week in the DFW area so I am riding early morning to avoid the heat (5am), while it is still dark. Overall I am happy with the light and really like the remote switch only issue I have had is it will shut off when I hit a decent bump, I am guessing something in the battery box is losing contact for a split second and shutting off. So far I just turn it back on with no issue.

You might want to reach out to our warranty department for help troubleshooting why that happens. It may just be that the wire coil on the battery connection is too 'flat' and the battery can lose the connection with a bump. It shouldn't be doing that.

An okay bike light

As I said it's an okay bike light, I think the hype written about this light is a bit over stated. Don't get me wrong, it puts out plenty of light and the pattern works so-so, but for one in reality the width isn't very wide and not really practical for the urban streets at night. On coming cars still flash their headlights at me because it must be very bright head on. It does light up the road directly in front of me very well, I see something before I hit it or be able to avoid it. For a bike light mounted on your handlebars this is a very heavy light with 2 18650 batteries installed. A second issue I have is the remote, wireless is a good idea if it works, it really sucks when it doesn't and my wireless remote has not communicated with my light several times and they're mounted right next to each other. I think that one day a bike lighting company will develop a better way to secure the light to the handlebars that makes it tougher to steal when you walk away from your bike. The other thing is this light needs to be mounted perfectly horizontal to work properly, meaning the light pattern on the road ahead of you. I use it on an Electric Bike and the handlebars are already crowded before mounting the light, so adding this light ended up being on a slight angle which means the light pattern in front of me is slightly skewed at about a 10 degree angle that makes part of the light shine directly into anyone in front of me or walking towards my direction. But a good thing is once mounted it stays right where it is supposed to be and doesn't move even on the bumpiest roadways.

Nice light, but can't mount on a mountain bike

The mount won't fit a standard 35mm mountain bike bar diameter. When you try to use the rubber shim for the smaller part of the bar, the light won't clamp tight and it moves, so this light is useless to me.

It should fit 32-35mm without using a shim. The following is in the Mounting Instructions section of the Operating Instructions.

'Note:

Adjust the direction of the light before testing the power and functions of the bicycle light.
Use the shims provided according to the diameter of the bicycle’s handlebars:
Thick + thin shims together: diameter 22-28mm;
Thin only: diameter 28-32mm);
No shim (whenever applicable): diameter 32-35mm.
The bicycle light can be used on a helmet with the Fenix bicycle light helmet holder.'

I do not see an order under your email used for the review, so I'm not sure where you purchased or when, but you should be able to return the light if you are within the return window.

I own two of these!

These are awesome lights. Very easy to use. Unlike some other competing brands, I don't have to remember a gazillion button strokes to get the light how I want it. Easy and intuitive. I love being able to carry spare batteries for those rare times I need a bit more juice. I also love the wireless switch. Makes adjusting the lights for different terrain quick and easy. THE BIGGEST PLUS I've noticed is alerting traffic while riding street. I can push the burst button on the wireless switch on/off, on/off, etc. This creates a strobe and is very effective in alerting traffic. I hope in the future a strobe function on the wireless switch will become a feature.

a few issues

- I need a more detailed feedback on the state of the battery power.
Initially I have a solid green with the rechargeable batteries, and after some time it goes into flashing mode. But going from flashing to 0 is unclear. So basically you have 3 states. Full, Inbetween, Nothing
It would be great to have a LCD display with just the percentage remaining. Even in intervals of 5% would be sufficient.

- Now the bad part: When I put in disposable batteries the top status light does not work at all. It does not work to confirm the batteries are 100% full, it does not flash half way.
The light just go full off. Not great on a nightly descend. Scares the hell out of you when suddenly everything goes blank

Hi Marco - the light has multiple levels of feedback regarding battery life. Per the Operating Instructions:

Battery level Indication

With the light switched off, single click the functional switch to check the battery status. The battery status percentage on this bright bike light will be displayed, and then goes out in 3 seconds.

Green light constant on (saturated): 100% - 80%
Orange light constant on (sufficient): 80% - 40%
Red light constant on (poor): 40% - 10%
Red light flashes: 10% - 0%

While this does not display the entire time, it will give you an idea before a ride of what your battery level is, and then based on the run time chart you can determine how much time you have based on what mode you are using. We do offer a light that has a display showing you exactly how much time is left: the BC30R.

Additionally, battery output levels cannot be measured in any of our lights if disposable batteries are in them. Any battery indicators on our lights will only be able to measure battery levels of rechargeable batteries, not disposable.
