The Fenix ARE-A4 is a four-channel smart charger, built for different types, and different size, rechargeable batteries. The charger will automatically choose the correct charging mode for each battery type, whether it be Li-ion, Ni-MH or Ni-Cd. The high-definition LCD screen displays charging status and battery levels. Built-in multi-protection guarantees charging safety.
I intended to use this charger in my car as well in my home. But Fenix no longer sells the 12 volt cable for connecting to the car. I thought this would not be difficult. I got the most common car power cable which has a 5.5 mm barrel plug. But the Fenix charger does not use a 5.5 mm connector. Not sure what it is. This is just annoying. The charger works fine, just gets pretty hot when charging four AA batteries. I measured 160 degrees on the charger bottom.
Being Fenix, I had high expectations for this charger and it met all of them. Skip the junk chargers on Amazon (yes, even Panasonic's) and invest in this charger.
This is great for charging multiple batteries at a time, especially since it picks the correct charging voltage.
A bit slower than some other chargers I've used, but I suspect my batteries will last longer due to that. Also a nice touch that the LCD screen dims considerably when not charging a battery. I don't mind it on my nightstand.
