Battery Specifications

Type Dimensions Nominal Voltage Recommended
Li-ion Battery 21700 3.6V Fenix ARB-L21 Series
Li-ion Battery 18650 3.6V Fenix ARB-L18 Series

  • It is not recommended to use the CR123A or 16340 battery.
  • Fenix 18650 or 21700 Li-ion battery is recommended for maintaining perfect lighting performance.
  • The Fenix dedicated ALF-18 battery holder should be used together when using 18650 Li-ion battery.

*18650 /21700 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only use quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; but cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Usage and Maintenance of the TK22 Flashlight

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using a high quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation. Recharge a stored battery every four months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output mode, the flashlight blinks three times every five minutes to remind you to replace the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery runs out completely.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently, or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

This flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the flashlight directly into anyone’s eyes.

  1. John Doyle

I’ve had this flashlight for a year now and It’s working flawlessly so far and I love the tail switch with the side button as a power cycler.
Great throw and perfect spill it just works everywhere from 400M away from you or 1M in front of you.
The only thing I would want in maybe a 3.0 version is more power on the highest setting but also the new side button that lights up and shows the battery level.

Great light. Employed in law enforcement and use this flashlight daily.

  5. Allan (verified owner)

Pros: Very nice flashlight, 21700 battery lasts for almost 5 hours on highest setting and is almost as bright as a car headlight on high-beam. Nice small size but puts out plenty of light. Even the low setting is plenty for most uses. Con: Can not change beam focus.

  14. Bernard Fernandez

I have been fenix for about 9years now, and j have about 6 flashlight 4 lanterns and one headlamp. I alrwady have the tk22 ue but thinking to grab this tk22 2v. But 5000mah bettery kinda pricy for a loyal customers.

  15. LISA DEFORD (verified owner)

Hi, I’m Sax, and I’m a Fenix addict. I have at least 15 lights…I keep finding them in backpacks and consoles.
Okay, the new TK22. I bought it because I need a pocket-carry light that can turn a room into daylight and that has a long throw for outside. I have been carrying a TK15UE on duty for years and it’s my EDC.
SIZE: The TK22 is about 3/8” longer than the TK15, and the head is a little larger in diameter, so if you’re a minimalist, the TK15 may still be your choice. But if you carry it in the holster, the size is totally acceptable, even compared to the venerable PD32 or PD35 (my favorite gifts for friends and family)
PERFORMANCE: When I first turned it on, even my wife was impressed at how bright the room was when it was pointed at the ceiling. When doing building searches, one point into the room and one tail click…instant WOW.
With my previous lights, I would demonstrate how bright they are by shining them into my palm and letting people look at the reflection off of my skin. This one was difficult (i.e., almost impossible) to look at when doing that demonstration. Having looked at a TK15 in a mirror (yeah, I’m a guy, I’m curious..and it was a BAD IDEA) I will NOT be doing that with the TK22.
UP CLOSE: On turbo, there is a perfectly round hot spot with good spill for a complete view of your surroundings. I’m standing 14’ away from a wall. The hot spot is about 18” around and the spill is about 18’ across (yes, 18 feet!.) AWESOME
LONG DISTANCE: I pointed it down my street at 100 yards (ranged it), and I could tell it had a lot to spare. I’m sure it’s going to work well for extreme distances (a true 250-300 yards) at the lake.
BATTERY: Be advised that it takes a battery that is larger in diameter and a tad longer than a standard 18650, but it comes with an extremely functional little adapter-sleeve, and my 18650’s worked great. I splurged on the 5000 mAh 21700 battery, and I will use my plethora of 18650’s as backups.
BOTTOM LINE: Sometimes I end up with “just another great Fenix flashlight,” but this time I got another GREAT Fenix product that STEPPED UP THE GAME.

FENIX FOLKS: If you can put the metal switch with the little green/red light indicator in it…well, you might just make another sell…or two. That’s the best mode switch you have, because it’s visible in the dark for a brief period after turning on the light. It could be a life saver in a crisis event. Thanks for all the great products!!!
