Press and hold the side switch over 0.5 seconds to turn ON/OFF the light.

Output Selection

With the light switched on, single click the side switch to cycle through Turbo→Eco→Low→Med→High.

Whether the light is on or off, press and hold the side switch for 1.2 seconds to enter strobe, one more clicking, the light will turn back to last used brightness.

Intelligent Memory Circuit

The light memorizes the last selected brightness level on General mode. When turned on again the previously used brightness level will be recalled.

Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output level for extended periods. After a 3-minute work on Turbo, it will automatically downshift to High output level to reduce temperature. Turbo can be reselected if needed, but service life could be shortened or the flashlight could be damaged permanently.

Low-voltage Warning

With the light switched on, when the voltage level drops below than 3.3V, low voltage warning will be activated automatically, then the battery level indicator on the switch will display red, and blinks every 3 seconds until the light goes out.

When the voltage level drops below than 3V, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off until the battery level runs out or once the battery over-discharging protection activates.

Note: This only works on 18650 Li-ion battery.

Lockout Function

Lock: with the light unlocked, 2 continuous single clicking within 0.5 seconds on the side switch . Light will switch off and 2 one-second blinks will indicate locked status.

Unlock: with the light locked, 2 continuous single clicking within 0.5 seconds on the side switch . The light will be unlocked and activated on last used brightness.

In locked status, clicking or pressing the side switch will activate 2 one-second blinks on Low to indicate locked status.

Battery Level Indication

When the light is turned off, single click the side switch, the battery level indicator on the side switch will display the battery status for 3 seconds.

  • Green light constant-on: saturated, more than 85%
  • Green light flashes: sufficient, 85%-50%
  • Red light constant-on: poor, 50%-25%
  • Red light flashes: critical, lower than 25%

  1. Plug the USB port of the charging cable into any USB power supply. Uncover the anti-dust cap and plug the Micro USB side of the charging cable into the charging port of the headlamp.
  2. If the battery level is fairly sufficient, the charging indicator displays green to indicate unnecessary charging. Or the charging indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged. The normal charging time of the built-in Fenix ARB-L18 2600 is approximately 3 hours from out of power to fully charged with the light off.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to remove the charging cable and replace the anti-dust cover.
  4. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery.
  5. The flashlight can only be used on Low output when charging, but the charging time will be prolonged.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap to insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The batteries need replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s   specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

The light is a perfectly serviceable light. It can be dim or bright, its small enough to not be a bulge in a pocket, and the usb charge feature is golden. Only one semi deal breaking negative, the switch location. Its easy to understand but its not particularly intuitive without directions. Any time I handed my light off to someone else at work they look for a tail switch and when they dont find one there is a moment of confusion to how to turn it on. The few that did see the button would press it but if you press it quick it just tells you what kind of battery life is left, you have to hold for 2 seconds solid. Also an unfortunate side effect is because of the location of the button it is relatively easy to turn it on in the holster. Many times I’ve looked down and the lights been on, draining battery. You can hit the button twice quick to lock it, but again not intuitive and then you have to unlock it to use the light. That aside the thing is rugged as hell. Its been dropped, its been tossed and not caught right onto concrete, its been used underwater, its been stood upright with a filter and used for hours as a lantern, Got a long run time, but battery being a lipo and constantly charged it has reached its service life. And I think rather than buy a new battery, I will buy a new light, with a tail switch.

Very good flashlight. I wish I would have bought a model with a tail switch because it is easy to accidentally turn on even when in the holster.

Excellent quality and build on this light. Lotsa light and a nicely configured beam profile. The on board USB charging is also a very nice feature. I bought this light in part because of it’s ability to tail stand, but I sure do miss a tail switch. It deserves 4.5/5, but alas no can do.

Only. been a few days but so far I really like it. Switch and modes take a bit of getting used to and doesn’t seem like it should be as complicated as it appears to be, but i guess there’s a learning curve

Unfortunately the UC30 does not have the pocket clip – it is a feature on the UC35.

Don’t like having to press & hold button to activate light. Nylon holster is not great. Otherwise I like the UC30 just fine. Ordering was easy, delivery fast.

A long time owner of Fenix lights, I found this one to be less than stellar. The XPG emitter is great, the form factor is nice like all Fenix lights, digital controls great, low battery indicator is great, run times typical. What I didn’t like were the side button…not that its a side button, but that in the dark its near impossible to find it in a decent amount of time. And if you’ve just woken up, good luck finding it any time soon. Being encased with some anti-roll knurling or raised edges would be a smart design. An orange peel reflector would have been a better option than the smooth reflector which produces typical rings instead of a nice flood. Little lights like this should not be throwers but flooders first. Still an outstanding light like all Fenix lights, but this one is just too hard to find the button by feel.

Only issue is the on/off button is not high enough to activate in the dark. If the button was raised slightly, you would be able to feel it.

We have the 2017 Upgrade unit & a pre upgrade unit (which led me to by the post 2017). Carry it with me all of the time & find it’s a well built unit. But, like other Fenix lights that I own, this one & the older UC30 have come on in their respective holsters & melted the bottom of the holster in the daily use one.. Felt my side getting very warm while sitting at a stoplight & quickly turned it off. Have also had people comment to me on a couple of occasions that my light was on, even though my jacket was covering it. Needs a better, more positive switch. Aside from that , I would purchase again. A quality product for the money (including the exchange on the US & Canadian dollar). No charging issues that I’ve experienced to this point. 5 stars if the switch was better.

I bought my UC 35 960 lumen model about 4 months ago. I thought I should use it a little & get used to it before writing a review.

    Its good, very good!

I’m very happy with it & would recommend it to those I know who do everything from wilderness camping to caving & fire/rescue.

The modes are well thought out, you don’t always need a blinding 960 lumens, sometimes (such as when backwoods camping for a couple of weeks where there is no place to recharge it) long battery life is more important than awesome power. The lower powered 50 lumen setting is plenty bright for many things & life extends from 1h 30 Min in “TURBO” to a respectable 38H, plenty for a camping trip.

The ability to use both the 18650 rechargeable battery & non rechargeable 2X CR123A as a backup is handy.

Its well made and seems very strong. Its size is not much bigger than the AA MagLite its replacing, & it even takes AA accessories like fiber optics & filters! Although I’d hesitate to use them in high powered modes because of the need to cool the head.

I like the luminescent mode switch cover, which is great in real darkness & the fact it lights up to tell you the battery are low enough to need recharging! It also tells you when its fully charged.

I went with 4 stars instead of 5 for 2 (minor) reasons.

The Micro USB is covered by a really flimsy rubber “cover” that seems like a gimmick, even though the waterproof rating is without the cover.

The lamp can’t be focused as many can, but the single beam is well designed has few hot-spots & no bright circles.

Would I buy another one? YES!
