Well, it's been 7 years that I've carried the PD22 daily. It's been a great light and has been very handy to have with me. Tucks in my left front pocket using the clip and I never notice it. Kershaw blade tucks in the front right pocket. I bought one for a friend about 5 years ago and I know he still carries it. The CR123 battery is pretty good in this light, mine lasts about a month of normal use at varying brightness levels. Luckily we have a large supply of new and barely used CR123 type batteries at work that I can use as needed. My next light will be a Fenix, I'm thinking the PD35 v2 for my rucksack, as well as a PD25 for daily EDC. Thanks Fenix for some great craftsmanship.

Seriously, why make a flashlight that can't use a rechargeable substitute? You can only use CR123 disposable batteries in this light. NOTHING else. Not 16340's not RCR123's, Li-ion, Ni-MH or LiFePO4. This gets really expensive when you try to use a flashlight for work, especially considering this light will burn through a brand new battery in a matter of hours of continuous use at medium setting. What a waste. I guess this is my fault though for not checking to see that every other battery that every other manufacturer uses was "banned" from use in this light.

I have been carrying this light in my pocket with my Swiss Army Tinker for almost a year and hardly notice it's there. (They are almost exactly the same size.) But when I need a little light or a lot of light there it is. I would recommend this light to anyone looking for a solid EDC light. The lumen spread is very well planned. 3 lumens, which is where I leave mine set, is more than enough for a wide variety of uses and has an incredible 120 hours advertised run time. The 45 lumen setting is a very functional "Utility bright" for working in or inspecting dark places like under a dashboard without actually losing visibility due to reflected glare. The 110 lumens lights up a yard, a dark parking lot, or a large storeroom with ease. 210 lumens is plenty (seriously, plenty) for tactical needs which really is the purpose this setting fills.

If I had one improvement to offer Fenix for this lights next evolution it would be to isolate the 210 lumen setting to the strobe only. And to make the strobe available by holding down the on/off switch until the strobe comes on (1-1.25 seconds). A single, gross motor skill movement to activate a tactical strobe would be significantly better than click on with thumb then find and hold another switch with the ring-finger. Remembering the process (rarely used) under stress and being able to perform the movements needed, one handed, while under stress is not where your mind should be occupied. If I need a tactical strobe I need it easy and I need it right now.

Overall this is a fantastic EDC, backpack, vehicle emergency kit, light for anybody.

This is my first Fenix flashlight. I had carried a Streamlight Stylus Pro light for about a year, and wanted something brighter. I got the Streamlight Pro Tac 3aaa, which is also a great light, but wanted something still brighter, while being compact. This light is it! It is worth every dollar. The throw and flood are both great. For one CR123A battery it produces 4 brightness levels, all of which I use with great regularity for many different daily tasks. I have never needed the strobe, but it's nice to know its there just in case. I would like to have the PD32 for an even brighter light when needed, but this one serves all of my edc needs, and is great for home defense as well. Can't recommend Fenix flashlights highly enough.
