I bought one for Ragnar Trail race and running trails in dark at home (often in snow/ mud). This light is great! However, I wear it on my waist, not on my head. When worn on my head, my pupils constrict and I can't see anything that isn't in the beam of the light. This is generally true with headlamps, but magnified because this light is so bright. When worn on my waist, my eyes remain dilated and I can use my "night vision" for peripheral, etc. On Ragnar, when running on very technical trails, I used a handlamp to spotlight the rocks I was picking through and the waistlamp (HP30) for what was coming up. It worked great. Several of the team tried other methods and we all agreed this worked best. Next ragnar we will have 2 HP30's and 2 handlamps so each runner can be equipped before the runner exchange occurs.
Overall extremely pleased. exactly what I wanted.

These lights overheat far too easy, even on lowest setting. Also, the beam distance isn't as advertised. Otherwise, while light is on, it's nice.

I've used this light for almost two years as a Search & Rescue Tech. At 200 lumens, the medium setting, this light gives me more output for nearly 14 hours of use (I use two 3400mah batteries) than most of my colleagues headlamps do on "high" for an hour with their lesser quality light.
Consistent, bright lighting is critical to our mission; looking for a missing person at night in bad weather demands we find them as fast as possible. There's no time to be swapping out batteries every hour or so to maintain your ability to search.
This light is close to perfect; bright, white light, greay spill beam pattern, all metal housing, angle adjustable lamp head.
What could be improved? I would REALLY like to have the option at time to switch to a tight focus, spot beam, and the power cable from the battery pack. PLEASE, Fenix; either replace this stiff heavy guage wire, with either a coil cord or use easy flex "spagetti wire" from the R/C world. Just as thick to handle higher output loads, but MUCH more flexible. Otherwise, it's a perfect light!

I have had this light for 6 months. I'm a farmer and have used it everyday. I gotta say I LOVE this light. Controls work great... I really like the battery pack. The batteries last a long time , everything is great... except.... The wire... I Hate the wire... too stiff ... when the warranty runs out I'll replace it with a coiled wire.

Nice looking light with great output. An option is needed for us users in industrial settings with hard hats to attach the battery pack to the head strap!
