Intelligent Protection

With the light switched on High I, High II or Turbo on Floodlight mode, the light will accumulate a lot of heat for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 65℃ or above:

  1. Spot and floodlight both switched on (High output on Spotlight mode), the light will downshift to 1000 lumens;
  2. Spot and floodlight both switched on (no High output on Spotlight mode), the light will downshift to 1500 lumens.

Time-limited downshift

With the light switched on, if Turbo on floodlight mode is being selected for over 2 minutes or High II for over 5 minutes:

  1. If High on spotlight mode is selected, the light will downshift until to 1000 lumens;
  2. If High on spotlight mode is not selected, then the light will downshift until to 1500 lumens

Note: The abovementioned functions are specially designed for avoiding discomfort and danger caused by the light overheating.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the battery level indicator blinks blue to remind you to recharge or replace the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work until the battery level runs out or the protection circuit activates.

Note: This only works with Fenix 18650 Li-ion battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lock the light or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation. Recharge a stored battery every four months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • 1 – 4 18650 rechargeable Li-ion batteries can be used (Turbo may not be selected due to battery capacity) for emergency case: insert the batteries with the anode side (+) and the salient point towards the light head, and then screw the tail cap back on. The brightness, runtime and battery life may be compromised.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The batteries need replacing.
    Solution: Replace batteries (Ensure batteries are inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
    B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
    Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warning

This flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the flashlight directly into anyone’s eyes.

    It is a great floodlight, but the spotlight is a little disappointing.

    Good solid light. I have no experience with this type of light but was expecting more than I got. The light is no doubt bright but does not make it like day.

    I purchased this light and a PD36r on a whim after someone told me about Fenix flshlights. I will admit after receiving i am very impressed. This light is a powerhouse of light. It is very simple to use and seems like very high quality, When i 1st attempted to try it out i went outside and lit up the flood light. I immediately had to turn it back off cause i was afraid i was going to wake up surrounding neighbors with the amount of light being thrown (it was like 1 am ). I took it into work the next night and played with it all over the place. The spot light was able to light up the top of an 800′ stack while i was probably close to 1000′ from the base. I was also able to light up the inside of the boiler brighter than 2- large LED pineapple lights and a few 13w led bulbs in stringers (large power house boiler). Overall i am 99% happy with this not so cheap flashlight.

    Now the things i dont like about this light.

    The first thing i found after purchasing that kinda upset me was the holster. It works great for a rent a cop that just stands around or casually walks an area, but if you are active, work where you may bend over or something of the sorts it is horrible. I had this light fall out of its holster 3 times on the first night before i realized its uselessness. I would have paid more for a poly holster similar to a pistol that can be carried horizontally or vertically with a positive retention lock since carrying it vertically causes the bigger head of the light to kinda press into your side.

    The 2nd thing i found is the batteries, It claims that in emergencies 1-4 18650’s can be used. Well, that may be true if you have a certain type of 18650. I have no less than 40- 18650 batteries ranging from Nitecore, Efest, a few Samsung, and various others. All but 2 of my batteries (which were 2 from some ebay headlamp) are unable to create a connection so the light will power up( you can her them rattle inside). It seems you need 18650’s with the button tops on the positive side and for 99% of my applications for 18650’s i have not needed, It would be great for Fenix to make a sled that will hold 1-4 standard 18650’s that we could use in place of the battery pack, or make a battery pack that can be charged externally,

    The 3rd thing is just kind of my opinion. I think there should be a lower setting on both the spot and the flood. I say this for 2 reasons. The first is that if i am in my tent or just need lighting enough to read and such the flood and spot are both too bright in their lowest settings. The second reason would be just to preserve battery life when you dont need more than say 5-10 lumens of light.

    I have no regrets for the most part since this is a great light. Just a few suggestions to Fenix to make this light MUCH more appealing for everyone.

      Hi Steve, only 5 of our lights utilize the flat top batteries, the rest of our lights use botton top.

    Extremely bright. It’s fun to show it off to friends. I wish the heat management was a bit better. It gets hot fast. Otherwise very good quality. Just as I would expect from Fenix
