Warning:

  1. Do not use the banned battery in case of overvoltage burnout in circuit component.
  2. Use quality batteries. Do not mix batteries of different brands, sizes, capacities or types. Doing so may cause damage to the lantern or the batteries being used.
  3. If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries from the light in case of damage by electrolyte leakage.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light head to insert the batteries with correct polarity in accordance with the graphics on the top surface of the battery compartment, then screw the light head back on.

Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down to 300 lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then automatically return to Turbo mode.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using quality batteries with proper built-in protections.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or take out the batteries to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare (included) when damaged.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light's performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The batteries need replacing.
Solution: Replace batteries (Ensure batteries are inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warning

  • This flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the flashlight directly into anyone’s eyes.
  • This flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used for extended periods, resulting in high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding.

Perfect handheld for night running after removing pocket clip. One suggestion: add a lock function to the adjustment ring so it can't turn on accidently when jostling around in a vest or pack.

This is the favorite and most used of the various outdoor flashlights I have tried. Long lasting, low cost power with 4 inexpensive AA rechargeable nimhs; good, comfortable balance in hand; not too big for a pocket; and I find the thumb controlled brightness adjustment ring not only convenient but quicker than a button. An all around good design. I own three of these. One is always nearby.

LD 42

I was looking for a flashlight that didn't take special batteries; one that was designed to run on rechargeable AA cells. I own the previous version of the LD42, the LD41. I like the LD 42 better: same number of cells, lighter, shorter, and even brighter than the LD41.

I like the rotary switch on the new one better than the push button on the 41.

Very nice

Like the simple adjustability of the rotator switch. Not a fan of the rear button tactical flashlight on/off switch. I don't live in a tactical war zone.

Gave it 4 Stars because the rotator switch is a bit on the sloppy side. Other than that is a great piece.

Eco is only 5 lumens which is great for most everything and then when you want to upset the neighborhood High is 1000 Lumens.

If I'd read the reviews I wouldn't basically be repeating the first review listed on the site - great flashlight, don't mind that it may go through batteries fast (which actually hasn't been my experience), because it was purchased for an emergency kit because it takes common batteries. I will also accept that the fault lies with me for not reading the description more closely, but Fenix's two other flat body flashlights have aluminum bodies, it didn't even occur to me that they would slap a plastic body on this single flat body flashlight. I think most people would prefer a slightly higher price for this flashlight with an aluminum body. Fenix are well made flashlights that are not cheap; unfortunately this one feels a bit cheap.
