Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the lamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality Fenix 18650 battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact the distributor.

Warning

The headlamp is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the lamp directly into anyone’s eyes.

It has two flaws, I love and hate the light.
It’s light weight – made of magnesium, has a cool white (spot) and a warm white (flood), it has a battery gauge to give you an idea of how much power is remaining, the top head strap was not needed for me so I removed it making the headlamp lighter, it’s an excellent headlamp (((EXCEPT FOR TWO FLAWS)))
    1. I HATE trying to adjust the light downward, going up is okay, but adjusting the light downward is extremely difficult. There is a little plastic piece that rubs on the outside of the grooved light, it allows for increments of adjustment. There is a design flaw making it substantially more difficult to move downward. I tried grease to fix the problem, but it does nothing. I’m in construction and this headlamp is on my hard hat. I constantly need to re-adjust it throughout the day, sometimes I need the light turned more up or down. If the light is all the way up but I need it turned facing down, it is a bitch. I hate it and after I’m done typing this review, it is being replaced with a Fenix HL55. Dear Fenix Lights, PLEASE FIX THIS INCREDIBLY ANNOYING FLAW.
2, Also, the other flaw is the curled plastic that ((covers the buttons)) it says FENIX on this plastic part and it is directly in the way of turning the light on and off or adjusting output, this is only if the light is all the way in the up position. I need it in this position sometimes, and FENIX put a stupid piece of plastic that covers the buttons, why??? Please remove the plastic button protector or whatever it is, we don’t need it.
Otherwise it is excellent, but for me it is nearly impossible to not be pissed off all day with this light. I hope they change the design…
    Sincerely Russell
