Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lock the light or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation. Recharge a stored battery every four months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Okay. Previously I had the RC09 rechargeable flashlight from Fenix. No joke it was dropped many, times and on top of that in oil and coolant and water never had an issue. It Always kept going. Ima mechanic and demand a lot from my flashlight and the RC09 always delivered. One day I went into the mountains in Arizona and I thought I lost my RC09, sad day for me. Time to upgrade, not so sad after all. I still wanted a compact rechargeable light for work and everyday carry. The E18R was the logical step forward. This thing is a power house it is 200 more lumens on turbo than the RC09 and almost a 1/2 inch shorter. At this point if it holds up as good as the RC09 we have a real winner here. As a final note I didn’t loose the RC09 haha but I’m so pumped to have both right now. Fenix is the only lights I have and I’m am dang happy at the moment. My only gripe with these lights and for me it’s very minor, is that the Magnetic charging on both of these, the only reason this becomes an Issue for me is because of my line of work. To many metal shavings make charging a bit problematic until the magnet is cleaned off, but that has not kept me from it. If you want a compact powerful rechargeable light this is it.

Very Bright, Energy Efficient. BUT at night the button to change illumination is often VERY difficult to locate by feel (could the little LED not stay lit or the knob be a little taller?)

Great EDC light. If it had a rear power button it would be perfect.

I like the size and brightness. Not a fan of the on off switch routines. I can’t seem to get the hang of locking and unlocking the switch. I often find the light on in my pocket. Wish it had a two button arrangement like my favorite of all, the LD12.

Daniel – if you don’t like the double click locking mechanism, another way to avoid accidental activation in your pocket is to rotate the body clip to right above the side switch. This will prevent it from turning on.

Awesome light for EDC! Bright enough for most tasks and the magnet is great for working on my vehicles. I have many flashlights and have found myself using this light more than the others. The battery life isn’t the greatest but it easy super easy to recharge with the provided charger. Double tapping it locks it which is necessary. When I first got it I didn’t lock it and it burned through the battery quick in my pocket… Its an amazing little light! Worth every penny!

great bright light had E15 before and this is better! but the switch is complicated. twice to lock, once long to turn on. once short for battery etc. otherwise would be a 5.
