Physical Lockout Function

Intelligent Memory Circuit

The light memorizes the last selected brightness level on general mode. When turned on again the previously used brightness level will be recalled.

Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output level for extended periods. The light will automatically step down by a few lumens to reduce temperature. When the temperature is reduced, the Turbo output level can be reselected.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output mode, the flashlight blinks three times every five minutes to remind you to replace the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery protection activates. Note: This only works with 16340 Li-ion battery.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap to insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light head back on.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Lock the light or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation. Recharge a stored battery every four months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Not sure what previous version you are referring to as this is the first edition of the E16.

Nice and compact. Unfortunately it gets way too hot on turbo setting and the battery life on that setting is abysmal. Just eliminate the turbo mode. Also the rear magnet is very weak and won’t hold up it’s own weight. I do not reccomend this for the high price fenix charges for its products.

I own several Fenix products but am disappointed for the first time in this product. It doesn’t function as advertised. It will only return to the last chosen brightness if you do not lock it. If you lock it, it starts on the minimum brightness after you unlock it. Also, it’s light is much yellower than my E15 making the E16 appear dimmer than my E16. If my E15 needs replacing, I’ll order another E15.

Right up there with everyone else, not 700 lumens and mine shuts down after 7 seconds on turbo!

I was disappointed with this light. The neutral white tint is great however the beam quality is terrible. I’m sorry but this is not even close to 700 lumens… more like 500 lumens at best. The light also heats up instantly in turbo and is gets way too hot (burned my finger). I also noticed flickering in turbo mode after about 10 seconds. The LED seems to draw too many amps for the battery to handle. I ordered better 16340 batteries hoping that fixes the flickering in turbo mode. I love Fenix flashlights but this one is not my favorite.

I got my E16 the a couple days ago and am very disappointed. I somehow missed that it is a warm white light temperature rather than the bright white. I really dislike the warm white, as it looks like incandescent. But that’s on me for not reading close enough. But the light output claim is waaaaay off. I don’t have a meter, but this thing is not even close to its 700 lumen claim (with 16340). I really question the 300 lumen rating (with CR123). Looks to me like Fenix is trying to produce a competitor to the Olight S1. The EC16 is a little shorter than the Olight, but not even close on light output. If you want a light in this category, do not buy this one. The Olight S1 is a much better alternative. I have no less than 10 Fenix lights so I love the brand. But they really missed their mark on this one in my opinion.
