Review of the Fenix WT16R Flashlight

Ambassador John E.

Overall, the Fenix WT16R is a very interesting flashlight. First of all, it has a magnet on its bottom, as well as one on its backside. This makes it very versatile when doing maintenance or repairs on various items. The flashlight also has a heavy duty clip on its back.

This flashlight has two forward facing LEDs on one end, with 3 different level settings, that allow it to perform similar to most spot flashlights. However, this flashlight also has a “white panel” on the side opposite the clip, that allows it to perform as a very effective floodlight! The floodlight has two different brightness levels. Both levels are quite usable. The photo attached to this review shows the flood at the highest level. Both settings are very helpful for hands-free repairs.

What really makes this flashlight special is that the panel on the side can also be made to flash as a yellow flashing warning light. By using the magnet on the back of the flashlight, you can stick it on the back of a vehicle while changing a tire, etc.

The WT16R has a built in Li-polymer battery that provides very good run times. However, I really prefer a battery that can be exchanged and is not built into the flashlight. The tradeoff is that the built in is more compact for the amount of run time.

Overall, this is a really useful flashlight and given its cost, I can fully recommend it for projects around the house, shop and car.
