PD32 V2.0 – A Great Light Just Got Even Better

Ambassador Chase L.

I have an original PD32, and that is a fantastic light. 900 lumens in a compact package and it is incredibly reliable. In fact, that is what my wife took to Kenya with her when we were fortunate enough to spend a few weeks exploring that beautiful land. Now Fenix has gone above and beyond and has made a great light even better – introducing the PD32 V2.0!

This newest rendition has more output, higher candela at every level and stays compact, reliable and light. This light is a knock-out every way you look at it. The new 2.0 version does have a few differences that I personally appreciate. First, Fenix did away with the side mode selector switch in favor or a tail-cap only selector. I LOVE this. In tactical/shooting situations, I have accidentally hit the side mode selector on my PD35 and dropped from Max power to Low resulting in being unable to see my target, causing me to need to pull focus from targeting down my firearm to operate my light. User-error to be sure, but a possibility that has been eliminated with the newest PD32 V2.0. Awesome!

Second, Fenix has introduced a new tail switch that has a softer resistance than previous models with a ‘bump’ at the bottom that lets you know that you are moving past momentary operation to constant on – this is excellent feedback and makes using this flashlight second nature with just a little practice.

Third, Fenix has changed the texture on the light. The cross-pattern texture is gone and has been replaced with subtle lateral serrations that do provide an excellent purchase on the light (and I think they look great).

Fourth, the candela has on the light has increased, this means that the light is more blinding and that the beam travels further (an impressive 395 meters). This makes is a great choice for tactical work, but also a great choice for hiking at night.

I have found that the PD32 V2.0 truly excels in a wide variety of situations and in my month of testing this light, I honestly have not found any problems with it. This is a great offering and I really would have been willing to pay $80+ for this light (though the light sells for $60 on their website).

This is a knockout. Try it for yourself.
